Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

http://www.dawn.com/2011/12/28/now-radio-pakistan-in-dire-straits.html

So lets get this straight. In the past 4 years:

  1. Pak steels has gone bankrupt
  2. Pak railways has gone bankrupt
  3. PIA has gone bankrupt
  4. The country can’t meet 40% of the demand for electricity and in the summer i bet it will be more.
  5. Inflation has increased
  6. Growth has decreased and the economy has stagnated

And now Radio Pakistan doesn’t have any money.

What the hell is this government doing?

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

Oh I know, lets blame ISI.. See it was so simple

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

Let these white elephants go bankrupt. Govt should only run govt and let private sector do the business. If those companies go out of business I say good & who heck still listens to Radio Pakistan? This is not 1960s.

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

Replies from a true Jiyala :sunnyboy: the possible reason of these failures …

  1. Pak steels has gone bankrupt **(Chief Justice) **
  2. Pak railways has gone bankrupt **( Zia Ul was the main reasons ) **
  3. PIA has gone bankrupt **(Pervaiz Mushraf) **
  4. The country can’t meet 40% of the demand for electricity and in the summer i bet it will be more. **(Nawaz Sharif) **
  5. Inflation has increased **(people of Pakistan) **
  6. Growth has decreased and the economy has stagnated **(Talibaan) **

Add Talibaan as well :cobra:

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

.. But who will employ jiyalas then? You would see a lot of jiyalas disappear from the forum, after they won't have money to pay for their internet connection.

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

A True Jiyala never looks here & there and never think any other thing except his party …

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

surely the current pakistani govt is awful but to make this a meaningful criticism of a particular party as opposed to the system/country in general, for each point what would've been your preferred course of action during the last 4 years?

further, would these actions have been:

a) feasible?
b) likely to have been taken by a different govt?
c) likely to have been effective remedies in this limited timeframe?

even if the answer to all three is yes (unlikely), have you even asked these questions?

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

they will never go bankrupt.. tax payers money will always be used to bail them out. Only this year alone GOP will dish out close to 500 billion rupees to compensate Pepco/corporation losses..

So don't be so happy that these white elephants will just die out.. they will continue to rot and we the tax payers will work out our sweat to pay for these rotten entities..

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

I would say this is not because PPP wants to destroy Pakistan, it is because the new PPP leader have no experience in running a country, he made govt. by the people he once called killers of his wife but he never had any plans or policy towards the development of above mentioned institutes or any other thing in Pakistan. Result is, the collapse of these and many others organization.

Incompetency added with corruption will normally result the same…

Now there is one more way to look at it, is Obama is as corrupt as Zardari? then why USA have gone down the hill? they have fought wars throughout their history (after WWWII) but they never were so down? how would we define that?

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

dude....Pee pee pee started murder of pakistani economy with ZAB privatisation program...... they never stop........its the one thing they are good at......... destroy the economy and fill up their own accounts and distribute the rest within PPP workers......

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

And same is the case with IK, who is no different than existing players when it comes to policies.

BTW, PPP leadership may be corrupt, but can anyone explain why Zardari knowingly destroying the country, when he has plans for his next generation to get elected.

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

@ :hanibal: Wars did not cost as much before. Simple planes, simple technology, simple weapons. More men than machines.

On the topic: Agree with above, privatization is the way to go. Govt. run sectors are bound to fail.

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

^^ War didn't cost this much due to technology, true or not, time will tell, but not many of those war-zones were Iraq like OIL-RICH countries, where the supply of oil was restored within a month of occupation!!! so if they were believed to be costly, then there was resource to pay that cost, no one by American and UK-based companies have total control of Iraqi oil fields...

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

Govt run sectors are bound to fail???

you can say, PPP Govt run sectors are bound to fail. Public services like railways in ‘very capitalistic’ countries (e.g. Germany) are still run by Government. They don’t hire jiyalas, i guess.

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

please vote for ppp in the next elections if you want to see this country becoming switzerlad,,, they have finally realised that next time they will use their energies to improve the nation instead of filling their bank accounts

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

how do you define downhill?

the US economy (GDP) is currently larger than it has ever been. even in bad times like last year, it still managed to grow at 3% and added more than three entire pakistan economies to its GDP.

the current US economic downturn has nothing to do with fighting wars.

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

Tell that to those who are looking for jobs or who have lost their jobs... or tell that to Obama who in August ( i guess) said, they do not have money to pay cheques of social security (or something like that)

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

Well it's not only the Deutsche Bahn (German Railway) but also Deutsche Telekom (German Telecom) and Deutsche Post DHL (German Post & DHL Intl.) where the federal Gov. owns it or holds the Majority ..... the province of Lower Saxony holds a major chunk of Volkswagen Shares yet it's not bankrupt but profitable

So it has a lot to do with what sort of PPL manage it

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

that was a warning - it didn't actually happen. he was saying if congress doesn't agree to a debt ceiling increase, then he couldn't guarantee that social security checks would be sent out. the measure was approved.

as for unemployment, it is cyclical...it has been much worse at many points in the past. even now the unemployment rate is much lower than in europe.

anyways, the point is that your characterization of the US as being "never so down" is false. perception of weakness and actual weakness can be very different things.

Re: Is the PPP out to destroy the country?

i don't know about deutsche bahn, but all other examples you gave are majority owned by private investors and are run as private institutions, not as government companies.
