Is the muscle gain good?

I have been working out the past 3 weeks mainly for weightloss and noticed that im gaining muscle and not losing as much weight as I’d like. I see significant inch loss tho…
I do cardio 4-5 days a week and strength training for 3-4 days a week. I need to know if this muscle is here to stay? or will it go down with continued exercise especially in my lower body…

thanks y’all

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

FAT ---> MUSCLE

The key is to reduce your body fat, not necessarily your weight. So yeah, good one!

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

muscle mass is fine as long as u dnt get too bulked up. muscle helps burn fat much faster so as long as the fat is being replaced by mass, its all good :).

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Muscle is always good, especially if you achieve low body fat. I doubt you'd be able to weight train that intensively where you'd end up with bulky muscles all over.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Yea I know Im not going to get bulky in a few weeks, but its just that I feel muscle in my thighs and calves instead of the mush they were. I was hoping that theyed reduce in size a little more before firming up. That was my concern.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

If you are gaining muscle...you must also be losing fat. Just measure the thighs as well and you will notice the size become smaller along with it getting firm.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

When you're working out, you're burning calories but also building muscle.

Muscle weighs more than fat...hence the numbers on the scale.

You will lose inches first, weight later.

Dont pay attention to the scale for now...pay attention to your diet and inches.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

firm beats flabby.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Thank you all, I also need to know if its better to finish cardio before strength or after?
I hear it both ways, what is your experience? I actually do it after my strength training...

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

I'm no expert but from what I hear its best to do cardio (warm up), strength and stretch it out.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

If you overdo cardio and dont focus on strength training your muscles will be weaker but wont neccasarliy go down. I think they are there to stay in some form or another and we all have muscles but the more you work them the stronger they will be.

As Queer rightly said better to be firm than flabby. :@:

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

^Normal folks who work out moderately will not gain so much muscle that they start looking like a body builder. So I think we should always hesitate before saying that and putting off people from working out. Especially women are physiologically different and will not look bulky easily.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Offocurse your right… Sorry to sound so difficuilt … :bummer:

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Muscle gain is always good :@:

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

aww you didn’t have to edit it out…I just wanted to point it that a person will not look like a body builder unless they are working really hard towards that

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Light Cardio > Weights/Strength Training > More Intense Cardio

That is usually a popular routine.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Ohh ok...that makes sense.

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

can some one plz mention some exercise for each of the above categories

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

This is what you should be doing:

Warm up

Cardio - start low and work your way to a higher level. dont do less than 45 minutes.

Strength training

Stretch

You wont get bulky or look muscular easily so dont worry about that. Keep your weight *slightly *challenging and repetitions high.

Good luck!!!

Re: Is the muscle gain good?

Muscle is of two types ... lean muscle and bulk muscle ... Bulk muscle is the sort of muscle that will help you undertake intense lifting feats in short bouts so if you train heavy then this is sort of muscle you will be putting on and you will gain size and weight - but that also depends on your overall calorie intake. Lean muscle is created over longer periods, it is a lot more efficient than bulk muscle, because you would have been exercising your muscle stamina ... so that is light to medium weights with more or longer repetitions. Muscle stamina is not to be confused with body stamina - that is linked with overall respiratory efficiency. However the people who are fit often also have lean muscle. However you may find that people who are not so thin can do some long runs too ... these are people who have mainly exercised their cardio-vascular efficiency and is not directly linked to muscle.

To burn fat it is better to do weights than cardio.

However if you do heavy weights you will not lose weight ... If you are a hard loser then eat less and healthy do lots of muscle stamina exercises and finish with cardio. If you are a hard gainer then you can do some heavy exercises to escalate the fat burn and finish with cardio and eat normally.
