is that tradition still alive..

or has it died - because of changing times, technology, an overall quantum leap in the lifestyles and the way things used to be in the past..

I am talking about Combined Study :cb:
It might not be directly applicable to the females… but guys may still be doing it. Back in my college / univeristy days, group of my friends would choose a place (someones house) and gather there for combined night study :mash:

It was a quite an occasion, serious matter.
Alternate duties were assigned for who will bring the Tea (or as per schedule, the host will have to make tea, at least 3 times during the night, for a group of upto 6 people), someone would bring biscuits, or any other snack :yummy:

Things would start pretty innocently, books would be opened, a short session of ACADEMIC discussion, then someone would crack a joke about some teacher, then half an hour of lame jokes about teachers, the girls in the other departments, etc etc.

Its already time for the first tea break
so tea would be taken, and then just to freshen up a little bit (Study is serious business you know :halo: ) the pack of cards would be taken out and a really serious cards session would take place - which extended to the second tea break :chai:

Now its almost 3:00 in the night, when some paRhakoo bachhaa would say “Yar kam az kam aik daffa notes tu daikh loo”
“Ohh haaN haaN - abhi kartay hain”

Two to three people would be openly yawning “Main thooRi dair soo raha hooN - adhay ghantay baad uth kar chapter 5 karooN ga”

yeah sure

so the night would pass and before fajar the party would disperse and go home. This was the standard routine during term breaks, during normal days the sessions would last from about 11:00 in the night to about 2:00 AM, still we managed to get to the campus in time. Afternoons were the time to catch up on sleep so we can be fresh in the night for combined study :dhimpak:

In all fairness, the REAL study was done on the weekend before the actual term paper, and we somehow managed to pass with respectable grades :stuck_out_tongue:

how many of you have done / or do , combined study

group study is a recipe for failure :chai:

Study Alone, you’re less likely to gossip and retain more.
