No no…it wasn’t directed at anyone particularly…just happened to be right after your post.
We started out with the same idea RV…we had a break in the week and everyone was off so we just relaxed at home. Now, that most of us are married and living separately…its an excuse to get together and make our parents happy. The main idea is simply for our families to be together. I still don’t know how to cook a turkey…we do the traditional T-Day spread because its so damn good. We don’t carve the turkey, sit around the table, hold hands or bow our heads in prayer. Its like any dawat except…the menu is according to the season we’re in.
:k:
I do apologize…I feel like my thread really put you on the spot and that was not my intention. I think what a lot of us are trying to say is that…Thanksgiving is simply time off. Its an excuse for my family to make it into a fun thing for us. How many times a year do we have a block of days off like that? My weekend is spent getting ready for the upcoming week. Laundry, grocery shopping, bills, cleaning up, etc etc etc. I squeeze in my friends during the week and quality time with my parents is our time grocery shopping. Life gets busy. So when a chance comes around to do something fun with your loved ones…yeah…we take it. We grab it and run with it. And we don’t consider it a bad thing…having dinner on Thanksgiving does not stop us from praying, fasting, etc.
This has nothing to do with religion. It has zero to do with our beliefs. It has NO impact on our kids spiritual health.
