Re: Is smacking children an effective form of discipline?
To each their own :)
I am just lucky enough to know the results because my kids are almost on their own now. One on the way to college and the other almost there. Both responsible, respectful, and wonderful people. Never been in any trouble involving the law or the opposite sex. Both work when not in school. Guess what? No guilt.
Re: Is smacking children an effective form of discipline?
I guess one thing needs to be clarified - what consitutes an acceptable smack.
My definition of acceptable smack is anything that is light enough to leave no physical trace. Anything that leaves a mark on a child is far too hard, even it is just temporary reddening for a few minutes.
Re: Is smacking children an effective form of discipline?
I would not encourage it but then it depends on the circumstances. for example minah_pas case. I got smacked from time to time as a kid..not that much but when i used to do something really wrong....I think it was good in my case..i think i deserved it .....i became a better person(homer :D ) because of that
Re: Is smacking children an effective form of discipline?
only last resort
btw, my nephew used to beat my niece (he was 2, she was 1) so she used to cry a lot. I found the sollution . I used to treat her real rough , so she wont start crying after getting a little hammering from brother. So now she can kick him back as hard at the same time
I am proud of her, She is no more crying sissy.
Apart from beating, wrestling is essential for kids. This makes their bones stronger, and for girls too :k:
