Um no, they haven’t. I get rishtay…I don’t have thoughts of “omg, look at the elder bahu…they love her so much…zaroor koi aur baat hai…this girl cannot possibly be that nice…ppsssshhhhh…whatever”. When you see a happy family and these thoughts are going through your head…you’re the trouble maker…not them.
If you are going to walk into a family comparing yourself to the other bahu…you are setting yourself up. You might as well start auditioning for a Star Plus drama right now.
In ANY relationship…be it friendship, husband-wife, even work related…you have to try to make things work from your end. You cannot expect people to just see the halo on your head and praise you for sitting there and looking pretty. You have to work at it - much like this girl we’re talking about did. Things didn’t get handed to her so why would they be handed to the OP?
Ashy, do your best. Be realistic and see what part of this whole scenario you can control. That happens to be your attitude, your treatment of the family and how you end up making a place for yourself. So focus on that.
If they’re good people…which by the OP’s account they seem to be since they actually recognize how good of a DIL they have…they will see you for who you are.
