is quran only directed at males???!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been reading the discussion it seems like some people just won’t accept the rality. Would like to contribute a bit from my side. I am not trying to convince anyone that if MALE or FEMALE is superior on each other just stating a bit of my knowledge.

The word WOMEN comes from WOMEN = Wife Of MEN.

Peace!!!

i think we have lost the plot here,,let not some of us act like pseudo-scholars & others insolent towards islam...The quran clearly states that God is neither a male or a female..our limited imagination ends there, we accpt it or we don't...There's no harm in asking such questions & there does'nt have to be an answer cos we may not have the answer yet like a lot of things..there are many issues in islam that were'nt understood 100 yrs ago but would be better understood now due to negative or positive progress. The most imp. thin gis to have a strong iman

I think people lost the plot there for a while. There is a simple principal in Islam. before going to that it must be clear that the Quran was revealed to a male, the Prophet Muhammed (saw)and so it might seem to you that it is directed at males but that's where the confusion lies.

The islamic principal is that whatever is addressed to the Prophet is an address to the whole (male and female) ummah, unless there is an evidense to restrict the hukm to him (the Prophet).

Let me know if it is clear

It should be remembered that the Quran was written 1500 years ago. The prophets came 1500 years ago. Even today women leaders are scarce, so back then, there would definitely have been no female leaders. Probably bruised male ego!

Sheba was ruled by female leaders only... and that was many years before the Qur'an.

but you are right. the subsequent interpretations of the divine scriptures have all been male dominated... hence the corruptions like "permission to beat women" or "forcing them to cover their hair" or "marrying upto four of them at a time" etc.

Sadly, most modern females are not like Sarah and quietly give in to this male dominant interpretation thinking they are being 'religious' when they accept these distorted social role.

The Qur'an is addressed to men AND women. What women can rejoice in is that there may be more 'orders' for men than women.
