How is everybody? I would like to know if Pakistan the 2nd best team in the world. We did not even find good openers and even do not have experienced bowlers. I disagree with Pakistan being the 2nd best team. I think Sri Lanka is the 2nd best team in the world at the moment for hype performances of Jasuriya, Mahela Jawardenya, Muralitharan, Vaas and Kumar Sangakara. Attapatu is coming back. Sri Lanka won the 5 consecutives ODIs vs England and won the test series. Which team do you think is number 2nd best team?
Hell No. But if we had our bowling attack and the umpiring was fair we would have at least drawn the series, we just weren't meant to win. It was fate.
SL drew test series with ENG, but just beat SA 2-0.
Pakistan is still 2nd best team. Being 2nd best doesn't mean they will beat everyone except for the 1st team, but it means they can perform better than other most of the time (less than 1st one though :p)
Captain1 bhai, believe it or not. The way Sri Lanka is playing can crush Pakistan at the moment. How can we believe Pakistan being the 2nd best team? Atleast not in test matches. I hope people are also following Sri Lankan matches. So far Sri Lanka won two test matches vs SA without losing any series.

Oh Come on give it a rest. We are still the 2nd best team in the world. So we have lsot a series, but we have also won 3 series prior to these which included beating the same England and SL in SL. So lets not get too carried away. Also keep in mind we had lost 4 of our leading players, Shoaib, Malik, Asif and Rana.
Yeah it is. Look at the rankings (it might be 3rd now).
But try to understand this. Being the best, or #2 or #3 doesn't mean that we'll beat everybody that's ranked below us. Whether we are playing well or poorly, the ranking shows that we are at least doing better than many others, and that's all we need to stay on the top.
These questions are asked at the end of a period a year or longer. This is silly asking this after a match we played without our major players.
The same can be said for Pakistan. Take out Moyo or Younis scores in this series and then look at the scorecard. Besides, the same Murali-less Sri Lanka beat England 5-0. You think Pakistan can do the same even at full strength?

They r playing on flat tracks against SA, we wud beat them easily even in our current form. Besides only reason they r winning is cuz Murali is taking all the wickets. U also have to understand that luck is not on ourside.

Well the proof of the pudding is in the eating, we beat them in their backyard. Now what more has Pakistan got to do. This argument that SL beat England can we do the same and if not than we are not better than SL. In that case england beat Australia and we beat england, does that make us better than Aus? I cannot recall but I think Murali was there for some of the matches.
And we are back to this sub continent thing. Well tell me how many series has SL played in england in the last 20 years and won and than compare that with how many Pakistan played here and won. It is easy to get carried away on the result of one series.
Pakistan deserves the 2nd best in the world spot, they earned it and the credit goes to coach, players and captain but that is not the end of story. I think only Australia deserves their number one spot, the rest including Pakistan are replaceable. Australia is the only team that will win despite injuries or lack of form with their players while other teams just wilt if the key players are absent. Just goes to show how Australians approach their game.
England media saying we still won even though of injuries but those injuries happened several months in advance unlike Pakistans injuries, and the exclusion of Flintoff even made the team stronger, even tho you guys might disagree. So I just have to save injuries are responsible for our losses and England got lucky.
No that doesn’t imply that we’re better than Aus. I just stated that in response to your comment that Sri Lanka are a one man team who can’t beat BD without Murali. That’s like saying that England was a one man team in the form of Flintoff when they won the Ashes. It’s just not true, a series win or performance involves more than one person. That’s precisely the reason Pakistan lost this current series, they relied on 2 batsmen to get the runs every time.
I am talking about RECENT form. If you start looking into the history books than maybe West Indies is a better team than Pakistan, they have won more matches abroad.
My point is that to be a truly GREAT test team and seriously challenge the likes Australia, we have to learn to win outside the subcontinent. Can you argue with my points about Pakistan’s away performance during the “resurgence” in the past 2 years?
England could never be number one even after defeating Australia. Why? Because their performance outside England is still circumspect.
Yes, Pakistan deserve their number 2 spot. But they will need to improve if they want STAY at that position.
^ I agree they will need to improve to stay there but even on recent performances I think Pakistan's record is better than SL series by series. The difference between SL and other teams is that they can win with out their star players like Paksitan did in India and SL without Shoaib. SL can score a lot of runs without Murali but can they bowl the opposition out. I don't think so.
Ok so pakistan are out form so what every team gets out of form. You don't suddenly wake up one morning and be worse than bangladash. They had a bad series forget about it. They are still the 2nd best team in the world
