Who thinks Pakistan is the 2nd best team in the world? I never agreed with this ever even before ICC. I even think that West Indies is better team than Pakistan, and New Zealand and South Africa somewhat. If Pakistan the 2nd best team, then how come Pakistan did not win the series vs India this year?
Pakistan is not even close to Aussies. In test, Pakistan is like poor who did not beat Australia a single test match since before 1999 when I started watching cricket and Pakistan has lost poorly to Aussies. Now I rate England and West Indies above Pakistan as the best teams. Therefore, I would rank Pakistan as the 4 or 5.
Beside that no bowling attack and rank Pakistan down to 6th best team lol.
In conclusion, Pakistan is inconsistent team. How many of you think that Pakistan the 2nd best team in the world?

These things fluctuate SuperME, West Indies just started getting better, they sucked really bad less than a year ago, England can't win ODI's, and have a good test team, I'd still rate Pakistan above them, I think overall Pakistan is fourth overall at the moment under Australia, South Africa, and India.

West Indies are obvious favorites in the upcoming tour, but it will be very tough. Any international team can beat another on any given day, the only team you can bank on to win any match is Australia, other than that it is a coin toss. Are you Pakistani? Cuz even I'm not pessimistic enough to rank them 6th best.

Afridi bhai, it is not the first I am to this forum. I used to participate here few months ago and came back recently. I am indeed Pakistani, but I am concerned on the truth rather than claiming Pakistan is number 1. I hope few of the members know me. Dhobi_bhai perhaps the only one who knows me here.

There are statistics on what a team is based on! The way of playing.
Indian just play with some childish teams like Zimbawe and Bangladesh and makes a HUGE score. So people think wow INDIA made it huge!
But actuyll check the matches they played! and you talk about Ganguly and Tendulker... they just Suc|< when they come face to face with high ranked teams and player. Hitting Zimbawe and Bangladesh is nthng!

Pakistan was 2nd best for sometime, being 2nd best does not mean that you will beat all teams 3 and below every single time, only Australia has been able to maintain it and no one is claiming to be 'close to Australia' yet. I still support my team whether they are 3, 4, 5 or 6 as long as they are a fighting unit. We lost a few champs from ourside in Inzamam, Shoaib, Asif and that just by number is more than 25% while in contribution they make around 50%.
Take away Ponting, Gilchrist, McGrath and you will have a struggling Australian team. So don't be mad just at Pakistan for not being on same scale after losing Inzi, Asif and Shoaib.

Yes fair and valid point. However, don't you think the replacements for the likes of Ponting, Gilchrist, McGrath are likely to be better and effective compared to what is currently available to Pakistan i.e. Niazi, Faisal Iqbal, Shahid Nazir etc?

Johnson, Watson, anyotherson may be better than our replacements but they are no real replacement of McGrath I am sure you know that. My point was that Australian team is being carried by some heavyweights just like Pakistan is. Of course their heavyweights have proved to be more heavier than ours but that is besides the point, they will also struggle once their heavyweights are out just like us.
