The security situation is not good in whole pakistan. However, this is existent since long time and looks like will remain as is in the near future. I have also my marriage in karachi this summer. The only advise i have got is not to show off as much as possible. This is the best precaution u can take taking into account current situation.

nah over there, they simply dun get married for security reasons. 
as for gold, what gold! they stopped wearing it back in 1857. NOW they wear golden colour plastic jewellery, and pretend wearing 24 carat gold.
On a serious note, are you for real! you will see more REAL GOLD (not 15or 16 carat gold as in here UK) on those women attending the wedding than a jewellery shop on green street or southall.

There are thousands of wedding going on every day in Lahore... but u would be sure target of a thief if u act weirdly and expect every person in Lahore after your precious treasures... stay calm and composed and hopefully u would be much more safe than u presently r..

Just came back from Lahore and Islamabad. We attended the wedding, shopped for gold and clothes. There are lot of people around us who were spending thousands of $ and Alhm eveything went fine. We were there when Srilanka's cricket team was attacked and Punjab's Gov was fired. also they were preparing for long march. When these things happened everyone stayed home.
Like everyone said don't show off and don't use public transport. We never went out alone and our family member picked us up from airport. These are the key things and I believe if it is your time to go, you will walk there and be gone. baki Allah malik hai.
