Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

you can fix cameras on ur fronty door windows alram system ,first thing you can do go to bank rent a locker put all necessery documents and money in bank live like 16 karoor peoples are living ...

Its so sad how people are laughing at this, when its not funny!

Yes a million people live in Pakistan and are getting married everyday, but so are people in Afghanistan and Iraq! That doesn't mean that you will go and do a wedding there!

If I lived in Pak, we wouldnt have a problem...but I have no family there, just one family whose daughter we are getting married to my brother...now for someone who has lived in UK and regularly used to go to Pak its a bit daunting to go there and rent out a house and organise the wedding when you dont know the country well enough

It also doesnt help that last time we went we were in Faislabad when Benazir died...and I know what we had to go through when we trying to leave Faislabad and how trucks were on fire around us and how people tried 2 break our car windows...so guys this is a very serious topic! A few days after Benazirs death there was anotehr bomb blast in Lahore and my dad was going to that place, but the light went so he ended up staying at home..luckily my sister called us from UK at that time 2 tell us that stay at home because she had heard the news...we wouldnt have even know because there was no damn light so u cudnt watch TV!

Also, I had an aunty who recently went 2 Lahore and someone in ehr family had a daylight robbery where the men asked ladies for all their jewellery...1 lady ended up giving an artificial set...the next day the robbers came back and shot 2 ladies in the family saying y did u give us artificial..

as 4 banks..u go 2 the bank and the people in the bank have already told their family relatives that this person is coming to get this much zevar on this particular day and before u even get ur hands on the zevar u r robbed!

I know another girl who got shot in her own house 2 days before the wedding as the robbers came into their house 2 nick all their stuff..so this stuff is all true..only ting is that most of the population of Pakistan is unaware of all of this as the media doesnt highlight it as much

Going to Pakistan 4 a holiday was always something I looked forward to but after my last experience I am too scared and i wouldnt be too upset 2 attend for a holiday again..but when its weddings..it scary!

Everyday people r getting married there...but when you go from a different country tings do get difficult because its obvious that u r foreigners..and yes i do dress very simple in salwar kameez to fit in and dont speak any english but somehow its pretty obvious..we always pick out the people who r foreigners when we r shopping!

So people who are laughing, this really is a serious topic..no offense 2 anyone...

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

well, risking derailing the topic but i think its about time we put a stop to 'show off' culture, specially in weddings.

  1. It gives criminals incentive
  2. It deepens feelings of class discrimination and creates criminals.

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

I agree, but someone has to start this off...if you do end up doing it..all people do is talk behind ur back saying look how cheap these people r...when every1 knws your not...unfortunately its just getting worse...

people used 2 go to someones house with cakes before...now ive heard people take drinks with the cake ?! is that true?

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

TabuB, I would recommend you do a deal with PC Lahore for a wedding cum stay package if you are coming for few days. U will get discount on a package with rooms. Get married securely at PC, enjoy the stay and jet back to UK....OR u can book PC BHURBAN for wedding. Stay in cool place....enjoy scenery and ur brother will be happy to have honeymoon there.

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

People have tongues attached to their throats and they use them no matter what you do!

http://www.paklinks.com/gs/life-relationships/310857-supberb-wedding-gifts.html was a nice example!

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

I know situation in Pakistan is not very good but people are getting married everyday and people are traveling to Pakistan too. So, don't worry insha Allah everything will go smoothly.

Yup definitely tinking abt this, but after the marriot hotel blast its a bit scary..but u have 2 draw the line sumwhere....death can happen anytime! So yeh may do this if we can get a good deal

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

^ another thing to watch out for... the car/driver services ... a family was going back to from visiting US and due to the weather their own driver wasn't able to come pick them up from the airport...so they contact a limo service...which was great til robbers came right after they were dropped off at the house, they knew the family was coming back from US ... and asked for dollars and everything.

I think lahore is still saver thn karachi (i visited both places in march 08) but never hurts to be careful.

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

surprised to see different ideas floating here.

Pakistan absolutely safe to have wedding and all the shopping required for it. Pakistan and lahore is not what you see in the media.

I was in lahore even when Srilanka team was attacked near liberty. people defied any terror and were out on same area as usual including foreigners.

all shopping areas and eating places are bustling. you will not see taliban/terrorist at every corner.

You shouldn't worry about anything, its safe here. Just come to Lahore, enjoy the wedding and have fun..

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

Amour i think ppl knw that already...but they are still worried bcuz compare UK or USA there is a "little" more violence out in pakistan (currently at least). but yes everything is still going on normal.

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

TabuB, you are right about Marriot blast but all hotels have increased security now....I would suggest PC BHURBAN.

One more thing....it is quite easy for robbers to rob in Karachi while going home from airport due to a number of reasons that I can't write here (even if no one knows that u r coming). In Lahore, it is possible when they know u r coming...... ** Islamabad is the safest for airport to home transit.....**

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

Thanks guys for all your advice, we have enough time to plan so inshallah things will go smoothly...I really hope Pakistan becomes better, its like we are losing such a great country for no reason....all due 2 politics!

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

Im born and bred in UK, but parents from Lahore.....

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

hmmm ...

Re: Is Pakistan safe 4 a wedding?

though there is violence, but we see country is taken over by militants is also not true. yes Pakistan going through very difficult times at present because of enemies of Pakistan trying best to inflict it hard and portray it as destablised country and shouldnt carry nukes... there are so many players behind the scenes, even our allies are not allies in reality!

Pakistan will come out of it inshallah.

I had my wedding reception at that Marriot, so I know exactly what you mean. I also used to stay at that Hotel when I visisted Islamabad. Pakistan is a very dangerous place for overseas Pakistanis, in my view. I spent a good portion of a year living in Pakistan in 2006. The Police is often complicit with robbers. The government and legal system is as good as non existant. Dont expect them to help if something goes wrong. You will be lucky if they are not behind what goes wrong in Pakistan. They will often try to create problems for you, so you will have to pay them to get out of trouble. People are desparate in Pakistan, many try to take advantage of other people in the worst way possible, especially foreigners. I found, many of my old friends were no longer the type of people that they were when I knew them, years ago. This is not to suggest that nobody in Pakistan can be trusted. There are obviously still some very loving decent people with character, living there. However, more and more, I feel these decent people are living in fear for their safety and welfare. Therefore, I will not be going back to Pakistan anytime soon, if I can avoid it. I would probably wait for law and order and political stability to return.

Hey if you are Pakistani you must know whats going on there.. well i am Pakistani i am living in Poland, I know each and everything about my beautiful Pakistan, As you know Pakistan is a place where kind and honest people are living, please don't believe the ****ing media coz its making it very bad even all that stuffz are not in Pakistan...

About your safety, no body will kill you there coz you are Pakistani and Muslim, They even don't kill the non Muslims so please don't ask any question on this forum which makes the country bad...

Long live Pakistan!
