Its so sad how people are laughing at this, when its not funny!
Yes a million people live in Pakistan and are getting married everyday, but so are people in Afghanistan and Iraq! That doesn't mean that you will go and do a wedding there!
If I lived in Pak, we wouldnt have a problem...but I have no family there, just one family whose daughter we are getting married to my brother...now for someone who has lived in UK and regularly used to go to Pak its a bit daunting to go there and rent out a house and organise the wedding when you dont know the country well enough
It also doesnt help that last time we went we were in Faislabad when Benazir died...and I know what we had to go through when we trying to leave Faislabad and how trucks were on fire around us and how people tried 2 break our car windows...so guys this is a very serious topic! A few days after Benazirs death there was anotehr bomb blast in Lahore and my dad was going to that place, but the light went so he ended up staying at home..luckily my sister called us from UK at that time 2 tell us that stay at home because she had heard the news...we wouldnt have even know because there was no damn light so u cudnt watch TV!
Also, I had an aunty who recently went 2 Lahore and someone in ehr family had a daylight robbery where the men asked ladies for all their jewellery...1 lady ended up giving an artificial set...the next day the robbers came back and shot 2 ladies in the family saying y did u give us artificial..
as 4 banks..u go 2 the bank and the people in the bank have already told their family relatives that this person is coming to get this much zevar on this particular day and before u even get ur hands on the zevar u r robbed!
I know another girl who got shot in her own house 2 days before the wedding as the robbers came into their house 2 nick all their stuff..so this stuff is all true..only ting is that most of the population of Pakistan is unaware of all of this as the media doesnt highlight it as much
Going to Pakistan 4 a holiday was always something I looked forward to but after my last experience I am too scared and i wouldnt be too upset 2 attend for a holiday again..but when its weddings..it scary!
Everyday people r getting married there...but when you go from a different country tings do get difficult because its obvious that u r foreigners..and yes i do dress very simple in salwar kameez to fit in and dont speak any english but somehow its pretty obvious..we always pick out the people who r foreigners when we r shopping!
So people who are laughing, this really is a serious topic..no offense 2 anyone...
