Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??
ok I'll answer your question frankly, call me a traitor or whatever , i dont care cuz im speaking the truth
how do u measure a country's progress? is it GDP? well in that case pakistan is doing really well with a GDP growth rate of approc 13-16% which is more than most developed countries. before u get all happy, the reason behind this high growth rate is because our GPD base is so small that any increase will give u a large growth rate, so theres nothing to be too happy about.
some people might say 'oh look so many people have cars now we are a modern country blah blah' . let me tell u the reason behind this as well. after 9/11 most overseas pakistanis transferred their money into banks in pakistan because of terrorism and security issues. because of these increased remittances banks in pakistan are overflowing with liquidity and cash deposits. because of this they have increased their car financing schemes and hence people who cud never before buy cars are now buying like crazy. so its not due to any progress made by pakistan that we're seeing more cars on the road. also what many of u ppl might not know is that most people have difficulty paying their leases and end up having their cars taken back by their banks.
ok so some ppl might argue 'look at the increasing multinationals operating in pakistan now' . well again its not the INVESTMENT of multinationals thats important its the TECHNOLOGY that they bring to the country thats of prime importance. if multinationals bring technology into pakistan we can learn from it, copy it and become self-sufficient in our industries. All of our industries have to import machinery from abroad and because of this theyre suffering from high costs of production which causes them to lose out on the world market to India and China, both of which are self-sufficient.
I'll give u an example too, Siemens is a multinational that operates in Pakistan but it does absolutely NOTHING. It does not MANUFACTURE any appliances it merely ASSEMBLES ready made parts from Germany. Even in its plants, when there are technical problems, they call in technicians from Germany to fix it, no pakistani engineers are involved in anything. they just sit there doing nothing.
Our govt policies are inconsistent and hardly every implemented thats why many investors are reluctant to come to pakistan. we have only a handful of multinational operating in pakistan while big major player like GE, Microsoft and Philips are investing and bringing technology in India.
I dont even want to get into the state of our healthcare system because quite frankly u r better off lying sick at home than going to a hospital which will just do tests after tests to make money and at the end give u an incorrect diagnosis out of sheer carelessness and incompetence. I had typhoid once and our brilliant doctors diagnosed it as malaria.
Education is also another disaster in this country. The level of cheating that takes place in the matric and inter exams is beyond belief. Karachi University's degress can be bought for 200 rupees. No emphasis on concepts in schools or colleges everything revolved around memorising and thats why our institutions are producing robots that dont have a mind to think for themselves.
Our economy is going to hell and the gap between rich and poor is increasing day by day. The population of pak that u see driving fancy cars, wearing designer clothing and living in big bangalows make up hardly 1% of our population. Most of our ppl live in dire poverty in the rural areas. So dont go by what u see on TV
You want to know more about pak?
i like this ur analysis for pakistan.
thats really great and shows that our friend has a deep eye at pakistan's economy and other departments.
do u think we can save our nation before it goes too worse????
