IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

we can save the economy by these:

  • clear, consistent and enforced govt policies for all industries
  • overhaul of education system *]self-sufficiency - everything and anything that can be produced locally should be manufactured. cut down on imports

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

oh yeah I forgot to mention the 2 most important things - high utility costs and lack of R&D.

the costs of elctricity, water and gas for factories in pakistan are the highest in asia, whereas in India and China have much cheaper utility rates

R&D is almost nonexistant in pakistan, no businesses or universities carry out research of any kind. all the research departments in our universities are just for show, all they do is copy other ppls research and present it as their own

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

Paki boy, what have you done for your country? I hope you put ur garbage in the trash cans and not on the streets.

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

in order to solve a problem u have to identify it first

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

just doing this can solve all problems?
u know what if we all think for our problems than solve them.no one will be able to put his garbage on the streets.
if u asked me instead of this question that what do u think for the problems of ur country.i would be happy.

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

thanks voice.
u mentioned a big problem of pakistan.would u tell me why is it?
well i think its because lack of leadership.

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

hello khan.
thanks.
i got a question.
are we able to get rid of these things. and how?

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

Really very good and true analysis! Unles we develop our education system and acquire technologly and as a result produce capital goods, we are not progressing. Most multinationals in Pakistan are doing just trading activities!

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

it cant all be doom and gloom. surely there is some true progress?

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

sigh There are tons of answers to why we aren't progressing... too many to punch 'em all on my keyboard. Here's a basic outline: we are selfish, the govt is reckless, and the investors are foreign/private. We need to spend for the cause of our ppl, the easiest way for doing which is paying our taxes. The govt will then prob'ly take some notice and do its duties properly. We need to encourage only pvt developments that benefit our ppl, our country (homes for poor ppl for low prices etc.), plus the govt should be at the helm of every pvt project. And above all, we need a free and fair democracy system (which once again falls under govt category)... a country that can't trust its govt is simply lost.

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

ADB estimates 6.5-7% growth rates for 07 and 08. consumer spending increase must be part of that.

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING…??

^^ True. Check out my “Karachi turning into a ghetto?” thread, such issues are discussed there amongst others. Yes, I think there should be some natural population control method (i.e. apart from abortion and stuff) to limit population boom, how about we implement a softer version of China’s one-child policy :konfused:? But some people still have arguments since they say that Islam encourages having more children… any thoughts on that? Is it a sin if you discourage people to have many kids or you deliberately avoid large numbers of birth-givings?

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

Ofcourse Pakistan is progressig, towards ..........

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

The answers given above have been frank and honest. But think, in the 50s and early 60s Pakistan was progressing in a fast way, much more than all the 'tigers' of south east Asia !!

So what went wrong? To my thinking its ' Kashmir' - the self distructive obsession with it!!

1.The Army was being built up at the expense of every other sector of the economy. So education, health, infrastructure etc all were almost totally ignored.
2. The Jihadi culture was nurtured to 'bleed India by a thousand cuts', today, they have brought the gun culture and the extremism in religion - this has lead to the Shia, Sunni killings. The Jihadis hold the people of pakistan to ransom. The whole world thinks Pakistan is a terrorist haven.
3. The Army started off as protectors of Pakistan, but today they have taken control of the government, the real estate, they are into businesses, schooling & god knows what else. They think themselves above the very people they are supposed to protect.

So what is the solution - MAKE PEACE WITH INDIA, how that is done, is something which needs to be thought about. If that happens, there will be no need for the huge army, no need to fatten them, the money will be realised for education, health etc. The Jihadis will be jobless & all this may mean, that the people of Pakistan can once again take control of their destiny - by getting rid of Generals & having a democratically elected government - by the people, for the people, of the people.

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

the some rogress is seen in construction sector...but when dal mash is 94 Rs..tomatoes once reached 60 Rs...cheeni 44...and pyaz 50 ....then you can yourself know what the honey and milk lakes flowing inPakistan....

pakistan is the second greatest country for fake medicine after india...the oil regulatory authorities are making billions of Rs. monthly...Karachi now the paradise for mobile snatchers ..... ( i do not know what the factors but may be bhatta khors now turned into mobile-khors)....electricity rates are very high because the some politicians having post-doctrate degrees in Structural Engineering from Stanford like BB and Altaf and Aswandaryar find it the very "dangeous " project for pakistan....!!!!!!!
crimes rates are also alarming.... mostly SHO 's are responsible or involved .....

you cannot do anything until and unless you have a fear of fair and strict check and balance...if student does not fail below 40 %...who the hell will then study....wherever in quran there is a good news of paradise....also the same very next line talks about the hell ...umeed and khauf always go side by side.....

and when CJ ...for the first time in history...was taking suo mtto actions for the human rights...poverty....illegal human parts business...gwadar land scandal..murree park scandal....pakistan steel mull case ...the biggest fraud of pakistan history....the scandal of fake medicines...and oil regulatory authorities...IGs and CSPs were in the line of fire due to "bisti" by CJ for poor condition of establisment ..bureaucracy and crimes ...all lobbies joined toghether..iron hands came in action to put this man down....
why umar(ra) period is considered as the best with regards to every aspect particularly economic condition....
in umar bin abdul aziz period (his regime spreded over 3 continents) ...there were no beggars and poor ( need not to tell that he himself is more poor than any beggar).....

so point is when yopu have no khauf of danda ....everyone is free to do what he likes..who cares.!!!!

Re: IS PAKISTAN PROGRESSING..........??

there are a few things here;

1) considering the investment front; suppose people do invest in the country, but what if things get nationalised again like in the 70's??? knowing our military and govt. the person will be focred to sell his/her industries or what ever to the govt. at a low rate

2) people avoid paying taxes cuz:
a) they need to feed themselves (majority of pop. is poor, so i guess thats
where most taxes would be coming from
b)even if taxes are paid, thye go into pockets of corrupt govt. officers

3) too much spending on the military; pakistan should just deploy enough nukes to be able to ensure in case of an attack it would be able to annihilate the opposition, and then de-mobilise the army; that would save a lot of money i'm guessing

4)concentrate on heavy industry; pakistan has just 1 steel mill, whereas indians own oh-so-many steel mills. prime example being Mittal and Tata

i feel that the present bOOM in paistan is artificial and short lived
