No.
Re: Is Pakistan finished?
While feigning concern for the plight of Pakistan, if you are pretending to be someone you are not then I guess a Pakistani’s response to your question would be: You wish!
The floods have left more than 20 million people affected. Over $15 billion of damage. Infrastructure is gone, roads and houses wiped off. Over $1 billion of crops gone. Leaves me thinking how are we going to survive after these floods? This happened to us in 1970 when cyclone bhola hit east pakistan leaving more than 300,000 dead and the government didn't do anything to help just like right now and it resulted in a bloody liberation war. It just concerns me that Pakistan is in the worst shape ever and were pretty much finished.
One has to wonder after all why would someone use a new account, sitting idle for quite some time, to start a provocative thread asking "Is Pakistan finished?" To put ideas into people's heads?
Actually very few Pakistanis use the word "liberation war." Also interestingly very few Pakistanis are aware about cyclone bhola. However, I have noticed fascinating parallels being drawn in the blogosphere, especially in the hardcore Indian one, between this tragedy and the one in former East Pakistan, and how the perceived government inaction could now, as allegedly then, disenfranchise the people from Pakistan, leading to liberation wars and the consequent disintegration of Pakistan along ethnic lines.

No we are not finished. This defeatist attitude isnt going to take us far anyway.
Alos Govt may not be doing anything, but our Pak Army jawans are involved in relief and rescue, day and night, while fasting. And as long as our military is table and strong, Pakistan is here to stay.
PS: cp and samb, man you guys started off where you had left before CP's sabbatical from the forum.

What the gun said.
Plus, for a country that has survived zardari, floods can't be a bigger risk to its existence.

Re: Is Pakistan finished?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think about 170 million Muslims live in Pak, around 150 million in India and 150 mil in Bangladest. Together it makes 470 Mil Muslims in the Sub Continent. There are about 800 Mil Hindus.
I don't think 800 mil Hindus could've oppressed the 500 mil Muslims like they did b4 partition. I mean, without Muslim support, no party would've come into power. Makes me question the idea of Pakistan...
I think we should stop thinking that Indian Muslims are suppressed by any means. I personally think that as of now, a common Indian Muslim is living in a much better environment than a common pakistani Muslim is.

I don't agree with that anymore, after i talk with few people who actually went to India, one of them was Dad in 1993. They have totally opposite to say. Indian economy is growing that is one of the reason everything look shine and clean. But in reality Muslims are far helpless in remote towns, well forget about smalls towns Gujrat is a city and you must remember what happened just few years ago.

If you knew how our people helped themselves in the earthquake and how they are helping now, you wouldn't say that.
Governments are transitory, states are much less so.

helplessness in remote towns is part of common man's life in india and pakistan. Its just that your dad could not meet hindus from remote towns or he would get the same reaction from them.
I know many Muslim Indians in USA and I never found them complaining about India. They have exactly the same opportunity that a Hindu indian has.
Gujrat was an exception just like Muslims extremist burning christian villages in Pakistan was extremism.
WHhat surprises me about india is what makes India bounce back to normalcy after major disputes and unlawfulness. Khalistan movement, babri masjid, gujrat incident .. all happened and country some how bounced back. When we go through things like 12th may or kargil or fata incidents, we hardly recover.
Re: Is Pakistan finished?
What about Kargil? what about it? What do you mean we didn’t recover from it?
I will compare FATA insurgency with Indian current homogeneous insurgenices, i will give you some uncommon names: Tripura rebellion, Assam Conflict ..etc..etc.
What do you think about “Naxalite” ? Every saw the map how much area is effected by this one only ?
Well .. well i can keep going,.. i know why you are supporting India here, coz Nik is from their. I know i know.. i can feel .. i am also married now.. i can feel:( .. i can feel
..
Re: Is Pakistan finished?
^ even if there is something bad in India, should we be satisfied about it? Do we have to compete with India in everything? Even filthy violence?
Thread is about Pakistan... lets get back to it?
Re: Is Pakistan finished?
No I am not supporting India. It is a fact that I only heard from the people visiting from Pakistan that Indian muslims are helpless. I never heard it from any indian muslim's mouth. I have (had) friends from Hyderabad, Bihar, South India, Bombay and even Gujrat. Not even once they said that they wish they were in Pakistan or india is a bad place for muslims. Where did we get that impression from?
