I had an appointment with my doctor and while talking, the doctor start talking about Pakistan and telling me the names of all ex-President and ex-Prime Ministers of Pakistan. Shocking I didn’t know but the doctor knows. Since that I was thinking is our history is important? I mean not in this case but in any case but related to anything.
Yes, its important to know and learn from your history, so that you can avoid the mistakes, earlier generations made.. It is rightly said that past is the mirror of present.
If you're talking about our society, we neither value our history nor one who teaches us subjects like this. In west, people still adore writers like Karen Armstrong.
In our countries, majority of people chose a profession, which they consider will guarantee them a rewarding career. People should not be blamed for such behavior, considering overall economic and political conditions.
But history is an important subject, which not only provides us an opportunity to know our past, but guide us for future too.. The condition is our willingness to go though it with open minds ignoring all the biases.
I was talking to my cousion and telling him history about different companies and pplz whereas he told me that 'I'm not interested in history nor any1 would like too'. Pplz are thinking in future and what will be best for them. My cousion studying in Uni. He and his friends never gave an important to any History lesson. I think majority of Paki pplz even don't like to read history.
Whether they like it or not, history has a basic instinct to remind itself.. People may not want to read history, but they love to discuss past.. I mean you can hear people comparing current government with previous one.. This comparison of new to old is a kind of interest people have in past / history. I remember, as a child, I kept on my Dadi ' aap ke zamane main, ye cheez kitne ki milti thi'.
Yes yaara.. every discussion, be it serious or for fun, is chit chat.. Knowing comparative data of past enable us to look at the reasons for such things.. Just asking questions about comparative prices at an early age, lead me to know that there were agitations against Ayub Government just due to increase in sugar price by some paisas and people started calling him names.
My point was, human beings are always fascinated about the past and at a stage in our life, we all want to know about our past, and history fulfill these needs.
:nono: didn’t you hear molvis like Zaid Hamid chanting slogans of Nishat e Sania (Renaissance).. People love to brag about their civilization, irrespective of their current conditions.
zaid hamid in not upto the mark scholar…
but you should understand muslims consider them selve muslim first…
so if glorified past inspire us then whats wrong in it…
if we say that muslims built spanish kingdom whats wrong in it…
you are very well informed about history…you know that not a single army of this world was mono ethnic…
various races were always on oneside and other…
you know baluch chakar khan helped mogols…so if baluch feel proud about it. is it wrong?
My dear brother, why its compulsory for conquered to love conqueror and their conquest.. Spain is ruled by we Muslims is our ideology… Spain was ruled by Arabs (and not we Ajams) is Arab’s ideology.
Islam is a gift to our area by Sufi saints not those who enjoy killings and making towers of human heads. Does Islam teach us to call / consider them those expansionist monarchs our heroes, who just after 50 years of prophet’s death slain his grandson.
Our Past glory is redistricted to just 30 years after Prophet’s death and that is also controversial due to incidents like Bagh e Fidak, Jang e Jamal, etc
even arab can not claim as conqueror of spain were moors/moroccon arabs…
i am not saying that only conquerors should be appreciated or accepted as heroes…
i accept that din in subcontinent was spread due to preaching of saints…
but if not for those rulers we were ended up like chinese muslims…
hazrat sarhindi bashed jehangir..but tell me any hindu raja whom our sufis were able to question…
i think muslim rulers created lot of jobs for muslims…
and all the cultural influence we have is due to these rulers…
lucknow, hyderabad, delhi all have major islamic influence…due to muslim rulers…
we have a mixed persian, afghan, mongol, indian culture due to these rulers bhai
