Let’s assume for a minute that we are living in Jerusalem at the time of Christ…We are all Jews…Suddenly we see this guy come out of nowhere with claims of miracles…We see him reviving the dead, curing the lepers, healing the blind, walking on water and numerous other miracles with our own eyes…
But when we come to our synagogues we see that our elders are very upset at this man…Our elders tell us that he is a charlatan and that all his miracles are nothing but illusions…Our elders also tell us that this guy is our biggest enemy because the Roman empire is upset at him, and that if we don’t turn him over to them, the Roman empire will be very upset and start to persecute us…
Our elders also tell us that this man is a bastartd, being born illegitimately to a prostitute from Nazareth and her pimp Joseph (Nauzubillah, but that is what many Rabbis claimed about Hz. Mariam :as :…
Our elders tell us that if we don’t hand over this troublemaker to the Roman empire, the Roman empire will crush and persecute every Jew from Jerusalem to the Red Sea…
We start to believe our elders…And despite having seen the miracles with our own eyes just a few months ago, the raising of the dead, the curing of the lepers, giving sight to the blind e.t.c., all starts to seem like illusions and his followers, (the 12 apostles) seem to become trouble makers…
Jesus, the saviour of mankind is now Jesus the terrorist…A wanted and sought criminal to the Romans and a betrayer to the Jews…
This happened 2000 years ago…
Now with all the gadgetry, gizmos and stuff available through technology, how hard would it be for those in control of it to malign somebody, like let’s say, Osama Bin Laden?
If you look at the guy, the guy is a pure saint…Leaves his education to live in the deserts, leaves his millions to fight for people who don’t even speak the same language in a far off country away from his family, wives and children? Shuns the luxury that his millions can afford him?
I mean, we can be very American about it and say, the man’s crazy, deranged, lunatic and the sooner we kill him the better or we can see what motivates him?
How hard would it be for someone with a motive enough to destroy his character? How hard would it be for someone to convince us that Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist?
I mean, if Jesus, despite his miracles in fron of thousands, his preaching of love e.t.c. can be made into a public enemy number one within a few months just by the elders of Zion, how hard would it be for today’s awesome media to portray Osama Bin Laden as a terrorist?
You have to remember, Jesus was persecuted and sent to the cross by the very same people who saw his miracles, spent time with him and heard him…
So, should we as Muslims believe what the media portrays someone to be? Should we be like the Jews who despite witnessing the miracles of Jesus aid the Roman empire against Jesus, an innocent soul and Prophet of Allah :swt:? Even a couple of his disciples turned against him supposedly believing the lies whispered by the elders of Zion…
I am of the belief that history repeats itself amazingly well…While we may as Muslims despise those Jews who turned upon their own Messiah, shouldn’t we consider against whom we ourselves turn against? At the behest of whom?
Today, as before, you hear whispers again…Propaganda once again rears its ugly head calling for someone’s blood…
So consider this, if you were a Jew living at the time of Jesus , would you be an apostle or the one calling for the death of Jesus? How would you decide? What would make you decide? How would you know if the man you are about to send to his death and turn him in to the Roman empire, is a saint or a sinner?
