Is Music Haraam ?

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

No it doesen't. Are you so weak of mind that the mere suggestion of something wrong leads you to commit a wrong? Then you just stay in bed because the world is full of bad bad things not just suggestions of wrongs which according to you would cause someone to lose their minds anyway.

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

I am sorry but this is nothing but conjuncture from a sectarian... quoting verses from the Quran and then relying on alleged saying of the exalted prophet to "complete" the meaning is not my idea of evidence.

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

anyways, i listen to the ulemas, the great pious people. May Allah guide us all. Ameen.

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

Not the Hadith.

The traditions passed down are traceable right to the Prophet (pbuh) and his followers...no scholar at a later date needed to scour the hadith and piece together how to Pray.

The Hadith are very useful in special prayers, which differ from the daily prayers...e.g. Eid prayers. But then, it's unreasonable to think that if the Hadith were not collected we would not have this information anyway...

The Hadith provide guidance on a lot of things, but we can't credit the technique of prayer to them...that's too much to swallow.

Some things we should take for granted as being a core part of the faith, and that would have been passed down regardless...

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

So instead you listen to someone who calls music evil?

“That music is a direct ploy of the Non-Muslims” (that is hilarious)

*“That the decline of the Muslims is their involvement in useless entertainment.” *Then pray tell why has the non-Muslim world gone in the opposite direction? They listen to music much more regularly and it is their ploy after all.

“A main reason to prohibit music is because it leads to fornication”? C’mon, just keep it in your pants. If you obey God on important things for which there is no interpretation, you don’t need to ban music or cover woman head-to-toe.
Or sing about God. Or sing to your wife. Or allow classical music only.

*“Music is bad for the body” *Ridiculous. Studies have show music to be beneficial.

"Temporary means of pleasure and satisfaction. What? God doesn’t want us to experience pleasure and satisfaction. What a mean God that would be. I wonder why he makes sex so pleasruable and satisying.

*It is used as a means of drilling western ideologies into the hearts and minds, which are totally contrary to Islamic values and teachings. *I assure you, no westerner is thinking of Islam when writing and performing music. Don’t give yourself so much credit. Come up with some Islamic music if this is the case. Some of the most beautiful and inspiring music in the world is religious.

How sad these people must be who issue such opinions. I wish they could experience joy.

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

Indeed! In God's own words:
وَاللَّهُ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ اِلَى صِرَطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
"Allah guides to the Straight Path of real success him who wills (to be guided)."

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

To further elaborate I think what is being said is that the Quran and hadith are two sources of Ilm, other sources include that what is learnt from scholars such as Tarbiyah and Tazkiyah and also the sciences such as Ijtihad.

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

Now that some people are using "I think" also so here is my personal opinion.

Life is too short. The Prophet (saw) always emphasized on doing Zikr in life whenever we get spare time. But the music usually take away that time while we are travelling, waiting for someone or having a spare time.

You know that "Kalima" would easily come on the tongue of those who do alot of zikr in their free time.

I remember the incident of a Saudi person who was once travelling in a car among his friends and got an accident. He was in the state of "nazaa" ( a state between life and death ) People were repeating to him to say kalima but he was repeating the wordings of his favourite song, and he died in that state.
People were angry at him for not saying kalima, but an elder person pointed out that this man used to listen to music most of the time. When you see the angel of death you become so scared that you only repeat unintentionally whatever was your biggest habbit in your daily life

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

Allah says in the Quran to do Zikr while you are siting walking or lying on comfortable beds.

I have yet to see a music addict who do zikr more than listening to music

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

SubhanAllah.....

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

True. Zikr anyone can do it. The best medicine.

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

The only thing that seems to have been passed down unadulterated is the Quran... everything else has been either altered or introduced. Traditions can change quickly based on time, territory and culture.

I am surprised people do not reflect that wherever the mention of previous scriptures occurs in the Quran, it speaks of what was the Word of God, and not the Hadith of the prophet in question. Is God sidelining the prophets or does hadith of any non-scriptural source not considered authentic altogether?

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

speak for yourself...

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

I haven't yet come across a better past time of the Prophet (Saw) than Zikr.

Can any music and songs lover tell me a single poem or a song which the Prophet (Saw) loved. NO!! He only loved the Zikr of the Quran

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

Abay Yaar, some people look at a woman in a burka and get nasty thoughts...

so then looking at women at burka is haram as well?

this kind of categorization of what is haram and what is not will never end.....

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

I am not blaming anyone here but myself and want to share the personal experiences of those who left music after we discussed about it. I myself used to do very little zikr when I used to listen to music alot, because all the time there was some song on my tongue, intentionally or unintentionally. But by the grace of Allah Since I and few of my friends left music, it doesn't even disturb us while offering namaz or doing Zikr. Alhamdulilah. Allah is Great!

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

Sorry but reading/reciting the Quran in Arabic and performing 'namaz' is NOT zikr

76:25 Raise the Name of your Lord morning and evening. (‘Zikr’ = Remembrance = Commemoration = Raise = Celebration = Magnify = Give eminence = Taking to heart = Keeping in mind).

76:26 Adore Him even at night and strive to establish His Glory on earth through long nights (as you do morning and evening).

76:27 Behold, these people love only the instant gains and as a result leave behind a yesterday laden (with transgressions and wasted opportunities of doing good).

76:28 (Who gave them the mind and body to behave the way they choose?) We it is Who have created them, and strengthened their frame. And if We Will, We can replace them entirely with other nations. (Nations who will use their human potentials better. 70:41).

verses 25-26 describe what to do, and verse 27 describes how NOT to do it...

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

You see, when you listen to anything again and again, it would automatically come on your lips. If you listen more to songs, it would come more to your tongue, if you listen to talawat of Quran more, it would come more to your tongue. Human nature

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

I understand what you are saying but perhaps I need to clarify... zikr is not rememberence of Allah in terms of reciting the Quran or performaing 'namaz' ... zhikr is to give glory to the name of God in your actions, conduct and mannerisms: DAY AND NIGHT ... that is zikr ... this is the Pre-Islamic meaning which is the context of the Quran, not the Urdu meaning. As such, you can be doing zikr while even, yes sir, composing music.

Re: Is Music Haraam ?

Question:

The reason that consuming Alcohol is Haram is because it causes people to get drunk and are no longer responsible for their actions.

But what if you can take this pill which will prevent you from getting drunk...

then is consuming alcohol haram then because you won't get drunk
