Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

I have to say, yes, but we mix Urdu with English all the time. So, why is this really a big deal?

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

The dude talks a lot about safe guarding culture and himself is wearing a suit and tie.

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

I don't mind using proper Hindi words in sentences where they make sense or are a good substitute for an Urdu word.
However I don't like how certain expressions have been replaced under the influence of Indian TV/film.
They just stand out to me as awkward.

Examples:
"Vo kiya hai na keh .." for "Vo dar-asl .." or "Vo asl main ..".
"Bhalay vo kuch bhi kahay." for "Chaahay vo kuch bhi kahay.".
"Aap ko aap kay bachchon ki qasam." for "Aap ko apnay bachchon ki qasam.".

And I do not like messing up the 'khay', 'Zay' sounds. It just sounds lazy when used in Urdu.

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan’s culture?

Why don’t these people understand once and for all that Urdu is not a separate language, it got huge vocabulary of Hindi besides Persian and Arabic. If you exclude Hindi words from Urdu, you will have a malghooba of Arabic+Persian, which will not be understood by majority of your own population.

Pink Kumar

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

His point is not just about Urdu language( talking about the video ). Dubbing cartoons in Hindi, is some kind of conspiracy to wipe out Urdu and Pakistani culture. It is very similar to what people like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh say in US.

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

Acha..Ab ye ek Hindi bashing thread hogi?

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

Not necessarily. There are already at least 2 or 3 posts not against the use of Hindi words where appropriate. :)

What is "pakistani" culture? Pakistan itself is still a new country.

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

are the roots a threat to the tree? a tree that wants to pretend it is an owl would think so.

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

BTW, Isn't this Azizi a part of vulgar stage dramas where both Culture and language are raped on regular basis.

Aray bhai, shub shub baatain karo. Ek doosray se zor mara kerna bara paap hai.

And it's not Azizi, its Ajeeji

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan’s culture?

I would say yes. Call me old fashioned all you want but I love Urdu. Whenever I watch dramas from the 80s, 70s. it just puts a smile on my face. Mixing Urdu with Hindi and English takes the sophistication and beauty out of the language. :snooty:

Re: Is mixing of Hindi words with Urdu undermining Pakistan's culture?

Islam and Urdu defines Pakistani culture for the patriots. One who brings other religions and languages is traitor.
