Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

I feel Obama may be worse for Pakistan. He is likely to pull out troops from Iraq and put them in Afghanistan. This will worsen the situation in FATA.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

obama is better
i think he might finish this entire war thingy

ron paul would be best. lol

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

So Obama would be more likely to put troops in Afghanistan to fight the same cross-border militancy that Pakistan is fighting against, and that would be a bad thing?

I think it's good. Let the Americans take on their fair share of this war, so less of our soldiers' blood is spillt and more of theirs. Pakistan has born the brunt of this war for too long.

Niether one should be allowed to interfere inside Pakistan........I don't care if they are GOOD! BAD! or UGLY!

Agreed!!!!

What will happen when Taliban are struck in Afghanistan? They will seek refuge in FATA. Secondly we will get an influx of refugees.

Both will worsen the law and order situation.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

It all depends on what you think is good for Pakistan.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

factoid- Pak-Americans at large supported W in 2000, because they thought he would be better than Gore who would continue Clinton policy.

But being "Muslim" big vote bank supported W against Lieberman (the Jew :D)

pakistan is a total mess.............its a hornet nest of terrorists, extremism, militancy and illiteracy

what happens in pakistan threatens the entire world

pakistan has become the epicenter of global terrorism

you hit the nail right on the head

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

I like Obama, but his policy about Pakistan scared me a little. I am not too sure whether he wants to actually go to war in Pakistan or simply target areas where these terrorist are supposed to be hiding. However, either way it would affect Pakistan as a whole. Obama says that if Pakistan doesnt co-operate by giving access to Pakistan, then that would be a sure sign that Pakistani's are harbouring terrorist in the country and if that the case, the US would go with force. My concern is that Pakistan will not give permission and US would have to go in by force. If that happens, there will be destruction, so i think that Pakistan needs to go into some kind of a negotiation with the US and no doubt, the US would need to put down incentives in Pakistans favour. Obama has mentioned the word 'tit for tat' and i would prefer that over 'war'.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

if you go on the basis of public statements definitely mccain. as X2 said the American Muslims track record is not good considering how they voted in 2000

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

^^ muslims in america should vote who will be a president that is good for america and the rest of the world

pakistan has always been supported by the worst american presidents......like bush, reagan, etc....

pakistan needs to clean up its act

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

^i refer you back to the opening question
also it's military govts not Pakistan that have been supported ..and you calling Regan a worst president doesn't tie in with US historical opinion

Pakistan facing ‘disaster,’ says Imran Khan

by Katherine Haddon Katherine Haddon – 6 mins ago

LONDON (AFP) – Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan warned Thursday that Pakistan is heading for “disaster” and lacks any plan to get through its current economic crisis.

Khan, chair of the Pakistan Movement for Justice, added there was “no victory” in sight for US-led forces fighting in Afghanistan and threw his weight behind Barack Obama and Joe Biden in the US presidential election.

“I go as far as to say that where Pakistan stands today, we cannot go on as we have been going on,” Khan told the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) think-tank in London.

“Unless we change, we are heading towards a disaster. The only way we can change is if we have an independent judiciary checking the abuse of power.”

He added: “We have muddled through and always somehow we felt that Pakistan was going to get out of the crises it faced. This time the reason it’s different is that never have we had such an economic crisis.”

Khan said there was “no strategy” for tackling the problems, adding: “No-one knows how we are going to get out of this.”

Pakistan has held discussions with the International Monetary Fund and needs up to 4.5 billion dollars (3.5 billion euros) in the next month to deal with a balance of payments crisis.

Khan warned the United States, which has faced controversy over its aerial attacks in Pakistan’s tribal areas in pursuit of suspected militants linked to insurgency in Afghanistan, was failing to win hearts and minds in his country.

He said the way the United States was trying to tackle extremism was like fighting “fire with gasoline” and that the aerial attacks were “the worst way to deal” with the issue.

“Unless there’s a change of strategy, in my opinion there’s no victory in sight for the US,” he said, calling for dialogue with militants.

“Certainly the biggest casualty out of this is going to be Pakistan… (We are) heading the way Cambodia did during the Vietnam war where Cambodia was accused of sending in insurgents and Cambodia was bombed, destablised and you had the killing fields there.”

Backing the Democrat Obama-Biden ticket, he expressed strong admiration for the vice-presidential candidate and described the pairing as “much more suitable” than Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Khan also predicted more suicide bombings in Pakistan following a devastating attack at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad last month which killed at least 60 people.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

^^ yes Reagan was bad........most people who have a good opinion of him are these Red neck republicans

Under Reagan Drug Epidemic spread in USA, AIDS spread, he send troops to Lebanon, bombed Libya, supported Contra Rebels in Nicaragua, funded Afghan Fighters, sold weapons to Iraq to fight Iran, sold weapons to Iran to release American hostages in Lebanon, etc....

He was a terrible President

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

^^ i'd advise you to read up. Also your opinion on the actual question would also be informative

Pakistan need to stop the beggar mentality and start working on the short term and long term plan/goals to improve the economy. We need to control FATA and NWFP, stop jihadi, Taliban and alqaida.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

time can tell. in case of obama he has open and out strategy about pakistan, it can serve two purposes might bring pakistan out of coma or might be the death of us in case of mc cain we will see much of what we've been witnessing for last years, slow poisoning , but death nonetheless.
