Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

In general Republicans or Free-Market right wing presidents (Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagon, Bushes) lean towards Pakistan.

Whereas socialists, leftists etc. aka democrats presidents (JFK, Carter, and Clinton) lean towards India.

These biases are historical in nature so don't go around defending or offending on these points.

Another aspect to consider is that American policies are determined by vocal pressure groups represented by their lobbyists and friends in Washington DC. This is where Pakistani-Americans can make a difference if they can copy Indians, Chinese, S. Koreans, Irish, and Israelis.

Here are some examples.

  1. Indian Americans and software corporations were able to lobby for more H-1 visas even though pro-Union Clinton administration would not have done it so easily.

  2. Indian Americans and nuclear industry was able to lobby for Nuke deal that otherwise "pro-defense" republicans would not have done it so easily.

  3. Chinese American lobby was able to relax the rules for rocket-control exports to China that otherwise would not have been possible.

  4. S. Korean lobbyists convinced Americans to give out practically free mobile phone standard in exchange for S. Korean totally adopting American standards.

But remember these lobbies cannot be overtly Indian, Chinese, or S.Koreans. They have to carefully weave a long thread to clearly prove that such deals are good for America first. These lobbyists show that America would gain economically and strategically while helping an "ally".

The same way Pakistani American lobby can change and bend policies of both Obama and McCain if they show that Pakistan will do what it takes to benefit America and in return these presidents will favor Pakistan.

Unfortunately Pakistani-American lobby wants to be in both Islamic and Pakistani boats. That doghla-pun tends to tear them apart right down the middle and they cannot focus purely on pro-Pakistan strategies. This is why they fail to bring the American $$ back to the motherland like Indian, Chinese, S. Koreans, Japanese, Irish, and Israelis.

would khan support obama if obama decided toinvade pakistan?

one does not have to be a genious to predict more suicide bombings but the frequency is not like last year

Imran has obviously turned into an anarchist. If he was in UK or US, the feds would have shot him to death by now. Poor chap has not learned a thing during his stays in UK or US. May be he was too young and too busy with "other" things back then.

Comparing cambodia with Pakistan is rather shameful. I wonder who some Pakistanis are so uncouth to talk like this about their motherland.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

First of all, Obama didnt say he was going to 'invade' Pakistan. What hes suggesting is already happening, and has been happening in the past. When Musharraf or Zardari ask for bheek from the west, they cant question these raids. Anti-OBL/burqa, did people like George Galloway, who in your republcian/right wing books would be an anarchist get shot by the feds? You really need to get over your islamophoebia by now, its starting to hurt your judgement.

People use the term 'invade' wrt Obama as if he'd launch an all-out offensive from air, land and water against Pakistan in all parts, they just don't look at rest of his statement.

I agree with you about asking for bheek. We should never be in the situation where we have to ask IMF or other sharks for Money. We need to get away from the beggar mentality and start improving our economy, develop projects that will help us. We can't depend on China to bale us out, we need to improve our foreign relations with countries that we have been ignoring for long time (Russia, CIS States, Iran).

KSE should be sold to Dubai
Wapda should be sold to Dubai (They can manage it better than us)

US is among those few countries that lost the greatest number (in proportion to their population) fighting the "rebels" and anarchists.

Imran khan (Qazi and Fazal) is no Galloway or Kucinich, he is an outright rebel now that he is siding with those who are killing our soldiers. No amount of chaplosi on part of his supporters can help him.

Obama may be great for Americans, but Imran is terrible for Pakistan.

If Obama knows or cares to know about pip-squeak Imran, I am sure he would refuse any endorsement from the terror-sympathizer. Don't you know Obama has forbidden any Hijabi or bearded Muslim to stand anywhere near him?

Imran Khan is lose canon, he should be given job as foreign minister to UK or USA. Imran is not suitable for PM or Presidency.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

Following shows Joe Biden supporting Pakistan!

DAWN.COM | Pakistan | Hilal-i-Pakistan awarded to Biden, Lugar

Again, you cannot back this up with any proof. When Imran does make statements that clarify his stance, you are no where to be found, but after a few months that rage because of Imran's anti-may12th drive resurfaces and we see you making such statements again. Btw, Im surprised you arent terming Obama as a terror sympathizing. I guess the Mccain campaigners here are taking it easy ;)

p.s. you might want to listen to what galloway says...

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

You don't have to think whether any american idiot is better for Pakistan...you better think if you are good to yourself... :)

If Obama is against Muslims then why is McCain buddha so concerned about Obama's links with Rashid Khalid, who is not just bearded Muslim but a Palestinian?

BS! It wasnt him, some of his volunteers that did that, and he apologized on their behalf and invited them over to the next one!

The Pakistan situation continues with dramaitc instability. Such instability provides a poor backdrop for the evaluation of the involvement, or input of any world leader. Most will stand back. It takes enormous courage to step forward. This is leadership. World leadership.

Re: Is McCain Better Than Obama for Pakistan

it’s funny how we assume that a certain candidate would be better for PAkistan and other would take certain actions which would not be in our intrest!

hellooooo ANY of them would do whatever is better for THEIR country, regardless of if it is good or bad for Pakistan. (Hamaraa qarzaa naheen chukana un nai)

1st we have to bring ourselves to teh point where it becomes necessary for them to respect OUR interests, until then we can only HOPE.

So have you ever wondered, in that process of doing what is best for their country, they will take actions which will be either good, or not so good for our country. Thats what people are talking about.

Phew! Thanks for clearing this up Spock, I was starting to get really worried!

P.S. Obama made some anti-Pakistan comments today on CNN. :hmmm::asa:

It was such a disappointment man - when majority of Pakistani-Americans are actually supporting him in this election.

Can you point to a CNN article? What did he say?

NO, He is not…don’t twist his words.

Bottom line is that we have to clean up NWFP/FATA area, no more Taliban/El Qaida jihadi militant. Peace deal or not we can’t afford to just sit and watch these Jihadi killing innocent people. It is time to take action…merger these so call FATA agencies into Pakistan, fence the border with Afghanistan. Create rehabilitation program for ex-jihandi militant.

NWFP/FATA major develpment, each city/town/ should have electricity, educational institues (atleast School, high shchool), Library, hospital, parks and recreation activity center for all ages.
