Re: Is it wrong
Perhaps i understood it wrong , but what I cant understand is that Halloween does in essence go against the Islamic teaching ( belief in witches , superstition , evil ) ect .. so how can it be confused with fun?

Re: Is it wrong
I guess the simplest way to explain it is to say that when we “celebrate it” we do not do it in reverence to the actual belief…we do it with the complete understanding that this is a culture of our host country and has no bearing on our faith.
If we are going to be so rigid that we cannot differentiate between “fun” and “faith” then we truly are a lost community.
Re: Is it wrong
So is dressing yourself up on a pretty regular basis.
So in essence, if he chooses not to judge you for all that you do to yourself (Insan - most favorite of his creations) he probably won’t judge you for how you dress a certain pumpkin on a given day for your kids happiness either.
Re: Is it wrong
Exodus , happiness at the expense of Islamic teaching is going to cost us , we all know that.
Allah knows best.
Re: Is it wrong
^ So going by the same school of thought, isn’t despising citizens of a nation, unnecessarily, against the teachings of Islam?
Also, alluding to the fact, every Pakistani wants a way out of Pakistan. A clear lie. And last I checked, a lie did go against the teachings of Islam.
Question, why must you pretend to be a hypocrite?
Re: Is it wrong
I didn’t get a chance to say this earlier but those halloween costumes cost a lot more than the amount of candy received. I don’t see how trick or treating can be classed as ‘Begging for Candy’.
Phew, glad I got that out of my system.

Re: Is it wrong
I havent read all responses but i have a question?
All those who are against halloween cuz its against islam, then do you also refrain from mehendi, tail, dholki, mayon rasams on shadis?
Just a question.
Re: Is it wrong
cant say about others , but myself and my family , yes , we refrain from tails and mendi’s and we do not follow the rasams. Zindagi rahi, i wont be doing any of these rasams for my son either ..
Re: Is it wrong
Dress up your kids on Halloween, give them chocolates on Easter, put up a Christmas tree. Your kids are your kids, they aren’t going to become kafirs by doing so. Frankly, no one really cares anymore - all of these holidays have lost their religious messages in the consumerism anyway. Halloween is more about candy and costumes than witchcraft and Christmas is more about Santa Clause than Jesus.
My family allowed me to enjoy in activities in the US since I was a kid. I’m in my 30s now and turned out fine. When I was growing up there was no confusion - we participated in all the fun family activities and even put up pretty lights. Other kids celebrated with their families differently and it didn’t matter to us as long as we had own own version and we were happy. For us, all of the holidays were about doing something fun with our family and friends.
Relax everyone.
Re: Is it wrong
That’s too bad. What happens if your daughter in law feels differently?
Re: Is it wrong
Go wild with all kinds of celebrations, Halloween, Pumpkin Carving, Turkey stuffing, Dewali. You live only once.
