I hate these sorts of people. Why would you go to med school to get married? That is so stupid. Makes no sense to me. Someone being a good husband depends on so many variables. Why would you waste years of your life just to fix one?
Let me put the same question in another way, if you were looking for a rishta for your son/brother, isn't it that if you have a choice, you'll bring a bride who is a doctor compared to, say, a software engineer?
and on what grounds ? I mean point out the factors you think that would make some one to go for a doctor instead of a software engineer ?
I can' speak for Pak but in the US I've noticed it's a turn off. I'm pursuing medicine and we've had lots of rishtas--EVERYONE runs away after they find out that I"m starting medical school. Regardless of whether the son's a janitor, doctor, lawyer, etc.
Med school is hard work and takes dedication, strenghth, and a huge emotional and physical toll on the student. I know because I am studying in Pakistan although I was born and raised in the west. It's not fair to say that girls come just for the rishtas. Girls usually end up not taking a job because our culture and society demands that our husband and kids be a priority in our life. The in laws need to step up their game and realize when they take an educated bahu in to their family they should be willing to help out with babysitting, etc. yes people tend to run after doctor rishtas more, but should also be willing to let them put their education to use. Or those same girls will end up not working or graduating and ultimately be a "waste of space" in medical schools
yes they do.. mils want daakterni for a bahu only so that they can show her off.. but practicing daakter nahi.. only naam ki... they do not want them to work after marriage.
Oh well, should have clearly stated - i was just comparing professions. Which assumes that all other options are constant, including physical appearance (height complexion etc), family background etc. I didn’t mean to offend anyone though, its more of a research.
Been here for a while now - I sure do know how the world works

Thats what I've seen as well. I guess its because nowadays "bahus" wanna practice and not just have the label. Just my guess.
