LOL! My husband went to med school in Pakistan and he actually told me that about 90% of the girls that go to med school there are only there to get a good rishta. And most of them dont practice after they graduate, because they have gotten married usually before they even graduate, or right after graduation.

Right. All those female doctors practicing in pakistan are just compassionate overseas girls who went over to help the poor. What a sacrificing lot.

yes its true...most of the desi mothers want a "daactar bahu" for their son :)...but not exactly a practicing daactar...she just wants a housewife who is a doctor so she can show off her bahu to her family :P

well, my question was kind of specific to Pakistan.
Let me put the same question in another way, if you were looking for a rishta for your son/brother, isn’t it that if you have a choice, you’ll bring a bride who is a doctor compared to, say, a software engineer?

Not going to lie but that's one of the reasons my parents want me to get into medicine. Although I am genuinely interested in the medical profession. However, I am generally interested in the field of medicine.
