I can’ speak for Pak but in the US I’ve noticed it’s a turn off. I’m pursuing medicine and we’ve had lots of rishtas–EVERYONE runs away after they find out that I"m starting medical school. Regardless of whether the son’s a janitor, doctor, lawyer, etc.

Thats what I’ve seen as well. I guess its because nowadays “bahus” wanna practice and not just have the label. Just my guess.
