Re: Is it right for Akram to coach KKR while no pakistani players are playing in IPL?
im not sure what your implication is. after all I am very much a product of Pakistani culture, therefore I can be a good fast bowler if I wanted.
what aspect of pakistani culture correlates to fast bowlers?
Re: Is it right for Akram to coach KKR while no pakistani players are playing in IPL?
^ I do believe that more pakistani kids want to become fast bowlers than indian.. indian kids are all about batting.. growing up in india me and all my friends wanted to bat... bowling was just something secondary... enjoyable sometimes yes.. but still batting was the priority..
im perfectly happy with india being a better batting team than a bowling team.. we win more games anyway its a batsman's game.. and our bowlers do the trick more often than they get credit for.. we dint reach #1 just because of our batting.. our bowlers have been taking the 20 wks regularly..

i think as sharaabee mentions, Pakistani kids aspire to be fast bowlers. in addition, the cultural differences in diet and temperament, as noted quite often by different experts, ensure that the advantage goes beyond interest and includes nurturing of already superior stock. i think it was in the WC that commentators were comparing Wahab Riaz's build to someone like Ishant Sharma or Ashish Nehra. These are typical Pakistani and Indian fast bowlers, and couldnt be further apart.

So According to your logic "Indian culture and genes" which are different from Pakistani ones makes us ahead in strength related games like wrestling, kabaddi, boxing, body building etc.
Plus is that why we are good in strategy and brain related games too?

is this a joke? pakistan's entire lot of fast bowlers have been/are skinny as twigs: akram, sami, akhtar (pre-steroids), amir, asif, gul, etc. i can't point to a single pakistani cricketer with an impressive physique. wahab riaz? lol.
obviously physique is not a key contributor. if it was, every indian cricketer could look like an amateur bodybuilder. if bollywood actors on pure vegetarian diets can be much better built than any pakistani cricketer and do it on short notice, others can too.
in any case, your comments on genetic superiority remain highly amusing given your particular ethnic background and pure indian stock. vicarious superiority complex is a novel concept. :)

good point. in virtually every sport that actually requires strength and build, india is better. go figure.

its nothing to do with genes. i can say short of inspiration or a hero to look upto.
check how many fast bowlers you guys had before imran khan.it was this guys inspiration led to future fast blowers like waqar younis, shoaib akhtar e.t.c
if you talk about just pace.even indian bowlers like srinath and agarkar were blowing in 140s in their carrer starting days.before injury munaf patel was baround 150 without control ,he was founded by australian players while blowing for them in nets.defference between their pakistani counterparts was as age progrossed this guys lost pace, were as pakistani reached their peak pace
Re: Is it right for Akram to coach KKR while no pakistani players are playing in IPL?
Lol! There is nothing funnier than how Indians react to observations, which they know are not limited to random people on bulletin boards but are routinely made everytime there is an on-air discussion of Indian ‘fast’ bowling. Nothing of what I said, including observations about superior natural physique, diet and temperament, has not been said on air. Infact, the Wahab Riaz vs random Indian ‘fast’ bowler was specifically made in the world cup match between pak and india, with consecutive shots of the two bowlers, as an example of why there is a disparity between the two countries.
Maybe the hysterical reaction has to do with what is referred to by academics as India’s crisis of masculinity, who knows.
A few general observations:
Better ‘stock’ isnt just limited to our greater natural strength. It means a build better suited for fast bowling.
These myths of Indian ‘fast’ bowling are belied by the dross that routinely comprises their ‘fast’ bowling attack.
With respect to Nikhil and his comments on my background, it is unfortunate that you are upset enough by this to take a course you usually dont take i.e. personalize discussions. But since you have, I will just say as a Syed who’s great great great grandparents come to India on one of those well-intentioned military excursions to bring civilization to the people there, I feel that the migration back West around partition time was just a return to a place closer to home :).
Re: Is it right for Akram to coach KKR while no pakistani players are playing in IPL?
^^ all i read is more rant to feed your self made superiority complex while realities on the ground are different. You are not the first one, i hear it from many pakistanis who claim such things to make themselves feel better.
LOL @ bringing civilization to the people here. you are full of it dude. you dont deserve a serious reply.
Re: Is it right for Akram to coach KKR while no pakistani players are playing in IPL?
come on yar kaka, i thought us two got along. its one thing to disagree, another to be rude. you dont want shamsheer ibne shamsheer ibne shamsheer angry at you do you?
Re: Is it right for Akram to coach KKR while no pakistani players are playing in IPL?
Awesome discussion guys :k:
Now coming back to the topic, it does not look like Akram has a chance at coaching Pakistan in the near future since Waqar is firmly entrenched there. Coaching KKR is not the only thing Akram does in India, he has had other coaching, TV and film assignments too. One should not grudge him the chance to earn some money
