For instance…this whole dating topic…is dating wrong according to Islam? YES! It is!
Do we still do it? YES! We do!
Is alcohol haram? YES! Do Muslims still drink? Some do!
Is pre-marital sex haram? YES! Doesnt matter if you had intentions to marry, or not. Its haram. Does it matter if you were in love? Nopesies.
Is cohabitating without a nikah haram? YES! It is! Does it matter if you are getting married tomorrow? NOPE! Prior to Nikah…haram, haram, haram!
Doing something and it being haram are two different things…yes or no? Just because majority do it, doesnt mean its legal and okay.
If you think about it, the limitations are there. We just choose to ignore for our own benefit and want someone to come and say “its okay for you guys to be together without marriage…its love and there is nothing wrong with that!”
Islam is not the end all and be all for every person. Some people believe in it more strongly than others. Some claim to be muslims, yet have reasons to justify whatever they consider correct.
It comes down to how you justify it. It comes down to if you actually really believe in what you're doing. I don't think the world can be seen as black and white. Yes, many people here believe Islam makes it so (i.e. by distinguishing the rights from wrong), but not everyone believes that premise, or some other one.
Agreeing on a couple points does not mean that people agree on all points - or should.
A person with different believes has all their rights to disagree, but not impose.
^ But Islam is a religion of right and wrong, black and white. No ifs and buts.If something is haraam it is haraam and you cannot justify it.If pre martial sex is Zina then it is .You cannot twist it and say oh Zina is jaayz now.Muslims who do these things may be or may be not have to pay for these. Its between them and ALLAH. And as far as non-Muslims are concerned they don't come into circle of Islam so they can discuss these things however they like it.
islam is a religion of right and wrong, the issue i see is that people focus on a certain type of wrong more than other type of wrong.
and while we have an issue with people making something unacceptable as acceptable, we dont similarly rect when people start making things that are acceptable into unacceptable.
I guess my stance is simply that we all have a moral compass within us and to supplement that we have Islam. We know when we are messing up…we just tend to ignore it.
Now, if you want to justify your lifestyle to yourself…its fine. But using religion and turning the black and white into gray…doesnt seem right to me. We have enough confusion in the world…

The rules are pretty clear, yeah?
are they? I think there is a small set of rules which is clear.
there are others that are based on hearsay and opinions.
I am not cool with turning black or white into gray
but not cool with turning gray or absent into black or white
while the intentions of some may be right, their opinions and views do not become divine law and should not be treated that way.
example I use are things like is lobster or crab allowed, then u quickly would get into schools of thought...not very clear
then we have statements like stoning as punishment for adultery, but is it? where?
lol thank you for this. seriously. IT REALLY ISNT THAT HARD.
thats what i wana scream to most of the kids around me. islam tells you whats allowed and whats not. its one thing if you choose to follow it (and yes thats between you and Allah but its still wrong)
ok so i've been in situations where if you say to a someone your age "ok thats haram you're not supposed to do that"...their response is why are you being judgmental, its wrong to judge people. you dont even wear a hijab"
this one time i was having a conversation with a friend and i was like yeah i hope that the dude knows whats haram or halal and he avoids the haram in this society...and they go "you have high expectations" lol i was shocked. i mean what has the world come to. just being a good basic muslim is high expectations but asking for money, looks and stupid things is acceptable!!??
People will look for all sort of reasons & justifications for their acts & for some even that is not necessary, but who cares …in the end we are all answerable for our deeds.
We have been very clearly told about right & wrong. Those using the excuse of “in this time & age so & so is correct…its the culture of today…” is just not right…islam is for all times till the day of judgement…it never said this & this is not allowed till this time & after that its ok
For those who know that they are doing wrong but blame it on religion…if you have the guts to do wrong, have the courage to accept it.
reverse happens too, e.g. with fasting and travel, now i hear ppl say well travel in those days was hard so u did not have to fast, now u travel in a plane or by airconditioned car so the allowing to miss roza does not apply to u.
so what amuses me is that we will find arguments to support that view, but if its the opposite and saying something does not apply then its a no.
PS: women are not allowed to travel by themselves..:nono:
Yes it is all haraam. The question is why do people care so much what everybody else is doing.
The problem with Muslims is that they concentrate too much on the materialistic things in life, or the issues that cause controversy to make themselves feel better. They forget that Islam is between a Muslim and Allah that is it. Nobody else has the right to get in between and tell a Muslim what he can or can not do.
Hypocrisy, that's what we are good at. No Pork, but keep on cheating, deceiving, lying, dating, and so on.
The other thread is a classic example where a girl had a five years relationship with a guy and when he left her, she wants Allah to intervene and punish him.

Exactly!!! Who are we to say that a person who drinks alcohol, eats haraam, sleeps around, back bites etc etc etc is doomed to hell?? Who are we to say he is bad?? How do we know that he is not Jannati??? How do we know that Allah is not pleased with him???
We need to focus on ourselves and stop looking at others!! We all do this.....no point denying it - if we didn't, GS would be made redundant!!
