is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

In one week we have seen these:

the govt’s official published order on ISI is made to be withdrawn in so many words

the PM is treated as a 3rd class official in the US airport ON AN OFFICIAL VISIT

his entourage including seniormose officials and ministers are made to line up to be “checked” and clkeared by one officer with one laptop

documented evidence about ISI, the country’s official agency, is published about involvement in bombing Indian embassy in Kabul, thus in one stroke completely justifying all Indian claims of the past about Pakistan govt sponsorship of terrorism

we also now learn of secret visits by Americal inelligence underlings to come visit Pakistan’s high and mighty, and bringing them ORDERS!

the PM on a official visit is allowed to make an absolute assof himself and the country because he wasn’t briefed adequately on questions that basically indicted the govt of Pakistan for terrorism

and now we hear in open press a 3rd class US officer being deputed to announce that Pakistan is NOT to expect treatment anywhere equal to what Indians are getting. This in response to a well published request in person by the PM of Pakistan for a deal similar

IAEA passes the India specific amendments. This after Pakistan was told openly to shup up or be evicted from the group.

2nd level Afghan officials have now taken to routinely slap Pakistan around too

All this is in one week. Everyone talks about sovereignty of Pakistan. Does this sound like it?

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

If you want to start a list which demoralises, takes "pride" away then it started long time ago. It reached peak many times. Last week wasn't much unexpected.

WOW....Where was I last week, I missed most of these news ?

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

Absolute and utter disgrase to our homeland but Im still proud to be pakistani tho! Just need to get rid of these selfish “deeks” out of leadership and have fair elctions.

therefore I urge u all to be a bit politicised and support change. Need indipendent Judiciary and everything will start to fall into place! Honestly Enough is Enough!!!

Thank you all and lets bring the pride in our increasingly demoralised nation.

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!!

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

^ and what ARE you finding to be proud about? Which deeks to get rid off - the politician? the religious? the military? the provincials? What??? Which?

HOW?

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

Tariq first congratulation on writing you longest post!! lol

After having my butt kicked, in my own country decade ago. I had learned that pakistan belongs to me and you(ppl). And its bn hijacked by high and mighty.

IF I ever see a politician(in a desert or some thing) I am going to step on his face!!! period.

When ever some one died in road accident and people took it as God's will, I always thought what if that was president's son, would it be still God's will.

OR

we actually have doubled roads build to avoid such an incidents.

Lastly to answer you question, if our PM/president get slapped(literally) by US or afghan or any one: they will just get the taste of life which they gave us in pakistan.
If their own kid dies in traffic accident they will know what common man goes through.

Pakistani's still do not understand their ranking in the world or are able to figure our how to improve it. They are more worried about their prestige than their reality and reality always bites them.

It is amazing when a Pakistani topmost leader visits their country instead of welcoming him he is treating so badly. It is an insult to all Pakistan and Pakistanis. They could have told about the ISI involment in bombings and killings later. Why insult Pakistan PM. Would American President be insulted if he visited Pakistan?

America wants to dismantle ISI. America says ISI is involved in all the bombings and killing. I am not sure whether even Gilani has control over ISI.

Tariq Akhtar,

so is government se pehlay aap ko Pakistani honay ka fakhar tha? Get a life man.

Agar isi tarah amreeka ke age dum halte rahe to we will be Paki (minus baluchi) stan!!

mere humwatno, Be careful of these enemies of pakistan!!!

This vide has been posted here many times, lets not digress!

Americans know more about Pakistan than Pakistani Prime Minister .

Journalists wanted to know where the American leadership needed to correct its action plan to combat terrorism and what is Pakistani view on the current complex situation in the region. But they were disappointed when Prime Minister Gilani told them that the Americans know Pakistan better than him and that "America can do any thing it wants

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

Just when I thought things couldn't go any worse for Pakistan, looks like it has. Apparently Bush treatd Gilani with almost direct contempt and scowled at him in presence of all others snapping "just who runs ISI' - this after Gilani had told him a couple of mins before that the ISI works directly for the PM!

Musharaf has been very silent

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

It would be interesting to see/hear what the intercepted communications were between the ISI and the jihadis. Why not just publish it?

Are you living in fairyland? When Uncle Sam has treated Paki leaders with love? In Zia time? Or in Mush time? Mush time, he was most humiliated by Bush. But since your love for Mush do not see this disgrace and you were proud Pakistani then until now.

Again get a life man. Posting such biased and hate monger thread shows how proud Paki you were?

Because there aren't any. Thats why its just been "anonymous officials". Pressure tactic to make us do more. The goras were quite content when there were bombings in Pakistani cities everyday.

As for being a proud Pakistani, they can make as many special checking lines/procedures as they want at the airports, I will still proclaim myself to be Pakistani.

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

^ except, the report in Dawn and somewhere else said the source was a minister in Gilani's entourage that said "some of the evidence presented by the US was so dmaning and undeniable....". The link between ISI and the jihadis absolutely exists and now based on such reports, looks like hard evidence too. I am just curious how these guys talk to each other - who runs who etc

I am proud of Pakistan because its people not the third rate politicians. PM Gilani would've been a no name MPA from PPP had it not been for the BB assassination and Zardari's Machiavellian moves towards power.

Although I never liked BB as a politician, she was world class diplomat who would've been treated differently. Similarly I admire the Indian PM Singh for his economic policies and genuine desire for peace with Pakistan.

The Pakistani politics, the jokers that they are, received the treatment they deserved. That does not mean that Pakistan is not a political, military and (hopefully) an economic power in the region.

Re: is it possible to be proud to be Pakistani after last week?

^ n=but th eproblem is both in India and Pakistan we are still preominantly run by individuals and not the institutionalized system. That is a risky thing

^

Sure sure. What I am trying to say is: When Sonia had to pick someone from her party she chose an intellectual, Cambridge/Oxford trained economist. While Zardari opted for political lightweight, who has degrees from University of Punjab in Journalism.

Please note that I am insulting the University of Punjab or saying that having degrees from Oxbridge makes you a better politician but rather highlighting the limitations of Gilani and the fact that Singh has had numerous policy papers and had been in charge of economic affairs of India..which means that he is comfortable in a leadership (even if its economic) role.

That doesnt help. You have to be a leader to lead a country. I dont think even Manmohan Singh is a leader. He is a sincere guy an expert in finance. That US system is better that the process they go through to become a President, American chose a leader.
