Is it ok to joke about burning men?

I came across some comments recently. and many more earlier. where it is apparently fine to joke about killing men, castrating someone because of some domestic dispute etc etc.

That too in discussion where you see all trigger happy people being oh so serious about women’s rights and condemning brutality on them…

is that what all the feminazism all about? you don’t want justice for you..you want others to suffer..

as for the mods.. they go around handing out points and what not for ‘‘not advocating violence/hate/biggotry’’ bla bla bla whenever they like… now its all fun and games and ‘humour’ for them…oh wait… the comment was a mod too…kudos :k:

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

He’s obviously trolling but this is a real issue, at least in the West so here goes…

Feminism is needed in Pakistan and in many countries around the world, but modern feminism in the West has been reduced largely to man bashing.

When Lorena Bobbit cut off her husband’s penis, people laughed and she was even invited onto Oprah. It was “okay” because her husband was abusive. More recently, a woman drugged her husband and threw his penis in the garbage dispenser and cut it up…because he wanted a divorce. Women on The Talk laughed and joked about it. The Amazing Atheist has an awesome rant (NSFW language) about how far the pendulum as swung in terms of gender relations.

Last year, there was a feminist protest at a Warren Farrell talk at the University of Toronto. They were calling him someone who endorses rape. I’d never heard of the guy, but I saw this video on the internet so I looked him up. Turns out he was a champion of second wave feminism in the 70’s, and is the only guy who’s served on the board of the National Organization of Women three times. He started speaking for men’s rights in the 90’s and apparently feminists hate him now.

If you’d told me a few years ago that feminism was radical I would have laughed but after hearing about ridiculous alimony cases, the blatant bias against men in divorce court, and the type of crap thatmodern feminists spew, I fully believe that feminists are a plague. Moronic women who have it good who simply look for reasons to complain.

Now, having said all that, as a “pakistani mard”, you have it good. Desi women are pretty phenomenal, and make better wives than a lot of nut job keyboard feminists that I’ve met. The culture of man bashing that exists in North America and Europe is pretty depressing.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Nomi mery bhai, dil choota na karo.

There are multiple reasons.
One, us people from pakistan usually do NOT throw away word like dead/kill because we know what it mean, after seeing so much blood shed in our country.
In west kill/dead is like a video-game-dead, so many GS-type-girls just adopted it.

Many retarded people raise their voice when they see women in trouble, not realizing that unless its a domestic issue, its crime against a member of society not just crime against women. Many “places”
need to be saved, rather then just women from those places.
Its that moronic news “89 we kill in crash, 3 among dead were women” excuse me!!!

I mean I ask those people, if the crime was done against their own son, brother or nephew would that by any less painful ??

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Like i said. you can call my post a troll or whatever, but nothing in there is false in my statement.
Thats why you responded mr.ghost..

I just called out the cow poo that is there..... and i bet none of the essay writer supposed 'humanists' are going to come and respond....... because its too difficult to say the right thing.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

For once I will disagree with Mr. Ghost. Women cutting men's organs is not advocated by feminists. During the Bobbit case I recall male comedians cracking jokes also. Could there be some feminists that go over the "top". Sure. Is that the feminist message? No.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

I was a total anti-man feminist back in the day, esp in college, and for sure in grad school. I seethed at men.

Part of that was professional anger though - in reality, guys sometimes have it easier.

But now, I think the ovaries have finally jump started. I like men. Especially the cute boyish ones that have a sense of adventure. Rawr. Meow. And such.

And no I do not want to cut anything off, that is such a waste for humanity, really.

In all seriousness, feminism has become unhealthy, and there are def negative people out there. Having said that, there is a place for a balanced Islamic feminism that is needed in countries like Pakistan, but honestly, the new generation of kids coming from Pakistan - they are WAY MORE progressive in terms of gender relations and balance than in the past. Women are working, they're welcome to work, and they are welcome to have an individual personality. I think some families still do live in the stone age, but for the most part, people have moved on and progressed a little when it comes to girls. Most parents realize that it's not ok to marry off their daughter to some idiot who doesn't deserve them, and it's better to get their daughters educated.

Hopefully, this new wave of educated women will make for a better Pakistani society.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Some additional perspective

Some conservatives are trying to pass a bill that would force a draped woman to carry the child to term. Else convicted of tampering with evidence. That is what feminists have to deal with. Labels such a man heater,, cleverly coined by the Right, have stuck.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Yes, but the point remains that women, and men, joke and laugh about male mutilation. If a group of men joked about cutting off a woman’s breasts on national TV, do you think they would be able to keep their jobs? Imagine the uproar. Men are continuously marginalized in the West and most people don’t even realize it.

I suggest reading “The Myth of Male Power” by Warren Farrell.

You said it yourself, **some **conservatives. Clay Aiken and his band of ignoramuses were soundly defeated in the elections, and Obama had a huge margin of victory. I think the country spoke pretty clearly about what they thought of conservative views and the GOP is in a scramble to reinvent itself.

The labels of man-hater etc are not just slanderous attacks, they’re real. Please watch some of the videos I linked above, and read the book I mentioned. I think you’ll be surprised. For example, more women now graduate university than men, girls do better in school than boys, and these are touted as victories, when in fact, these should be calls to investigate why boys are struggling.

The book especially, is not by some kook. This guy was a part of the feminist movement in the 60’s and 70’s, and was shocked by the direction that third wave feminism has taken. The book I linked was written in the 90’s, that’s how far back this culture of misandry has existed.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

No, it's not okay. We're all humans. We shouldn't wish such things upon one another.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

As always good points Ghost. Esp the one sided jokes aspect.will watch videos and do research on Farrell.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

My comments above.

Even now women while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan are not given sane status. Fight is o. For equal status.

This reminds me of upper caste in India or whites in west crying discrimination.

Men cry foul if scale goes slightly over to other side.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Men cant type. That's for sure!

Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Kind of agree with ghostie.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

How dare you?

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Yes, nuts in some states are trying to undo the progress that's been made, but I'm talking about the country as a whole. And I absolutely think women in other parts of the world need feminism.

You brought up reproductive rights so let's talk about that. If a woman wants an abortion, in most parts of the western world, it's her choice and she can have it. What if the guy wants to keep the child? It doesn't matter, it's her choice.

If she doesn't want an abortion and wants to have the child, and he doesn't want any responsibility, then too bad, she's having the child and he is forced to pay alimony. A quick google search would show you cases where DNA tests showed that the woman lied to the man about being the father, but he was forced to pay child support for 18 years. Is that fair? I get that it's her body and her decision, but the man has zero say, legally, in whether he can have his child or be absolved of responsibility.

Lastly, please tell me: what civic rights are women in the west denied? The fact that someone would be a feminist, vs a humanist, suggests that everything in **western **society favours men, which is false.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

You missed stuff I wrote within your posts I think. In the state of Kansas there is no abortion clinic. In new Mexico a bill has been brought up to force woman raped to carry to term. Else tried for TAMPERING with evidence.

So what is your solution wrt to abortion.?

Lastly while conservatives rail against abortion, when their daughter or son involved they look other way.

Finally how dare you disagree with me?

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

Also feminist does not mean tabors woman. Means favors equality.

One can be feminist and humanist. Not either or.

S and S I need you to agree with me.

Re: Is it ok to joke about burning men?

What does this mean?

So its okay to make jokes about chaining women to the stove, their saas burning them in the kitchen, making sammiches to feed you, etc etc etc? That part is okay but please everybody...let's not pick on the poor sensitive men. :(
