Lahori 981, I'm not talking about a wife. A wife and the "right hand" are two separate people. There is a Quranic ayah that asks you not to coerce yourself on a "right hand" (or is it slave?) , and I've actually posted it. Scroll up to where I quoted a few Quranic ayahs.
What do you mean by all this? A woman who is a servant of a man has full right to say that NO, her responsibility will remain to her duties as a servant of the household (cleaning, cooking, farming, whatever), and that she does not wish to carry it into a sexual relationship!
Its not the same thing as a marriage, which is BY CONTRACT, a sexual union. When you take a slave or a servant, she is not automatically sexually licensed to you.
Otherwise, why would the Quran ask you not to force yourself upon your slave??
The Quran is merely saying that you are allowed to have intercourse with free-believing women, and women that your right hand possesses (servants, slaves). This does not mean that you have the right to have intercourse with ALL free-believing women, and ALL of your servants and slaves (female). It means that these are your possibilities. You must choose, and the choice needs to be mutual. Just like you can't force a woman into marriage (and hence intercourse) against her will, you can't force a slave or servant into a intercourse relationship against her will either.

You said that if a man does not have the financial means to have a free believing wife, he can be intimate with his right hand.
I'm saying that is slightly incorrect. He has the right to MARRY his right hand. That is EXACTLY what this ayah says. It says you can MARRY your right hand if you cannot marry a free-believing woman. Not that you can be intimate with your right hand without wedlock. This ayah alone should tell you that if you have a maid, servant, or slave that is a believing person, then you are to marry them FIRST, and then be intimate with them. And yes, I'm reading the ayah as it is, because it is directly asking you to marry these believing "right hands".
That is why I was saying, that if you have a slave or servant, who is believing or converts to Islam, then you really ought to marry her. The Prophet did this with Maria the Copt, who bore him his only male child. He married her. He didn't have intercourse with her and then never marry her. He gave her full rank and status that each of his other wives had.

No, actually what it seems like from these ayahs, and please correct me using ayahs and hadith if you think I'm wrong, is that disbelieving slaves have a lower status than believing slaves and free-women. Once a slave accepts Islam, it seems like the status of that slave is near equal to that of a free woman, since they can ask for freedom, and you must give it to them.
Also, the differences in status are due to the nature of the nikkah nama being present or not. Either way, legal believing wife, or believing slave or nonbelieving slave (or right-hand), you're not allowed to force intercourse with any woman. That is rape, and absolutely prohibited in Islam.
Yes, no? Please feel free to counterargue this, since I'm not totally 100% clear on the issue. I suppose its because we dont have slaves these days, so its all quite foreign to me at the moment.

No, if you read thru what I've written you'll see that a believer is told to release the captive when he / she accepts Islam AND asks to be released. If they do not want to be released, then you don't release.

There is a verse in Quran, says…..Man can have a second wife, provided he is fair with both of them, and so, he can have third or fourth wife, provided he remains fair with all….or he can satisfy himself with his ‘laundi’ maid-slave.
