^ What's the special day you're counting down to? :p

True Mass already? I would advice against it, regardless of age. Supplements like True Mass and other BSN products are not recommended for starters as one should focus more on persistence and the correct form of lifting weights. At some point during the body-building phase, a person may consider taking supplements if one has hit a glass ceiling and want to plateau. Or maybe take the training to a new level. That is when you look into these things and determine why you need it.

Also, refer to FrozenFire’s Beginner’s guide to bodybuilding.

if his goal is to bulk up, i would advise against going to the gym 5 times a week, people think more is better and will lead to quick gains, thats so far from the truth. Ask him to cut back to say 3 times a week and dont over do it on the supplement products, yes they're their to help, but food in its purest form is the best way to obtain the calories he needs to consume. Oh yeah and plenty of sleep, perferbaly 8 hrs a day.

I dont think one should go towards taking such things. Just eat normal and workout.

Contrary to what people are saying, it is perfectly okay to use supplements. True mass is a great product but if he does not know its purpose and intended usage then he might not get to his goal. And yes eat , eat and eat. Lean protein, carbs and healthy fats. Protein shakes and replacement meals should only be used when necessary . Those times being right before and after the work out or early in the morning or when nothing else is available.

You could take supplements even if you dont workout. You could take protein shakes and meal replacements even if you're not going to gym... Your friend need to first figure out what he needs to accomplish and only then will he be able to know what kind of supplement and food will he need. Supplements are needed only when you cant eat certain amount of calories throughout the day. If your friend want to gain muscle mass and shred fat then maybe... but even then..check the serving label on protein shake and all you'll see is the protein portion being higher than any of the other things. This tells that protein shake is nothing but a quick way of getting protein in ur system. If one is a beginner.. he should try to get his protein dosage through normal food and only if hes unable to do so, he should go for protein shake.. why waste your money on such things so soon?..when you're still a beginner and you havent hit plateue ? Supplements are not going to be of any help to anyone if your lifting technique is wrong or if you havent been eating right.

Again, there isnt anything wrong with your friend taking supplement.. but make him eat the real healthy food containing protien , carbs, and healthy fat...and then once he knows much about the way his body works.. he can make some adjustments into his diet and maybe throw in a protein shake in his diet.

Thank you everyone
