i agree...except there is such a thing as TMI. You don't want to share everyyy bad experience you've had in your life; some of the greatest frienships I have (and i know this only comparable in a small degree) remain so because we continue to surprise each other.
There are essentials that they should know however; the way I'd differentiate it is if it's important to you, it should be to them as well.
