Diwana, what do you for a living? Just curious.
You mean, what do I do for living?
I **breathe…**thanks to Allah.
Also, I disagree with the generalization that people get discouraged with slow weight loss..
Unfortunately they do. Most people like instant gratification. And also losing weight fast in healthy people is not that dangerous over short time.
It builds confidence in people when they see the good results so quick and motivates them to go further.
.and that quick weight loss over a short time is “not so bad” in “normal” people.
Normal people are defined based on their blood test and body organ function. So even if they go through short term fast weight loss, their bodies can handle it. Obviously each individual is different and needs close monitoring.
If you are someone that has been leading a mostly sedentary lifestyle…where your muscles/body is not used to being very active…pushing yourself too hard too quickly can backfire because it can lead to burn out, injuries, frustration, etc. I think it’s far healthier …especially if you haven’t been very active…to start of slowly but consistently…and then build it up and increase the intensity.
Yes. But different side of the same coin.
Exercise and activity is not the focus of discssion here. I agree that quick and vigorous physical activity is actually detrimental.
This is a separate discussion but I would say yes there are hazards and problems with too much exercise and physical activity to try to lose weight.
In my opinion if someone (normal and otherwise healthy person) wants to lose weight, that person should focus about 80% on calorie intake and especually readily available carbohydrate and 20% on activity. And this activity level has whole different levels.
I know what running/jogging can do to people. Especially if they are obese. It can kill joints and cartillages enough that person eventually may need… back/ hip/ knee/ankle surgery.
(Read about stress fracture also)
The problem is that most people think in terms of short time period and long time period…when they should just make regular exercise and healthy a part of their lifestyle as opposed to something they should only do when they’ve packed on the pounds.
Yes. But this is primary prevention.
We are talking about what to do when people do get over-weight.
Also, people may not die with fast intentional weight loss…but they CAN get pretty sick as well.
I knew that was coming snce I said something extreme like dying. But trust me. With controlled fast weight loss, people do not get sick. It is a misconception.
Some people might even get saggy skin from loosing too much too soon. There’s a healthy and an unhealthy way of going about things.
This cosmetic effect applies even when people lose weight slowly.
The stretched skin will still be lose and wrinkled regardless of big amount of weight lost is fast or slow.
