All I said that normal people should not take metabolism as an excuse for not being able to lose weight.
Essentially it is simple mathematics when it comes to weigh issue.
Calorie consumed - Calorie lost = Weight gain.
Calorie lost - Calorie gain = Weight loss.
Some issues like metabolism are over blown to an extent that overweight individuals find it as an excuse not to be able to lose weight and in fact much simpler issue is over eating plus being lazy.
Only when one can prove in few ocassions despite doing all things right one cannot lose weight, then some medical conditions or what exactly is the source of calories such as consumption of growth hormone fed animal meat- need to be looked at (or even in beginning so one does not get frustrated during weight loos trial)
Also, one can lose weight fairly quickly in the beginning and then the loss hits plateau because of person either getting lesser weight and more activity is required for the person to lose same amount of calories or person start getting relaxed or tired of strict diet regimen.
As for maintaing the weight, AFTER achieving desired loss by being strict on diet, all one has to do is keep the ‘balance’ in calorie gain and loss so no need to be so strict.
Analogy here is like aeroplane or Rocket lift off.
One needs higher power to get a lift but later simple thrust to keep plane or rocket on path.
Read the bold part in my post, I said “Willingness to stick with A rule!”
