Is it a sin?

To not have a beard? Obviously having it is sunnah and you get ajar for it, but do you get gunah for not keeping it?

Re: Is it a sin?

To the best of my knowledge, beard is wajid. I know there's no sin for neglecting the sunnah; however, I believe neglecting something that which is wajib does count as a sin.

Perhaps someone else can clarify on the matter.

Re: Is it a sin?

Hmmmm thats what i thought too, well atleast thats what my dad told me.

Re: Is it a sin?

No its not a sin to not grow it since some people cant physically, but it is to cut it off when it does grow, but we r allowed to trim it to appear neat and clean tho. I myself have started growing mine.

Re: Is it a sin?

Some scholars say it is a sin, others say it isn't.

There's evidence from various hadiths to support both views.

The pro-mandatory scholars argue that the hadiths used by the anti-mandatory scholars aren't valid.

Re: Is it a sin?

Sunnat-e-Moakkada, Wajib, Farz ? There are different level. Farz is what Allah swt prescribed in Quran.

Re: Is it a sin?

beard is Wajib

even ulma said who shaved his beard and if he ll offer haaj withour beard hajj ll not Qabool !

Re: Is it a sin?

I don't understand why islam has to get to this point, where we decide what is fardh and what is sunnat.

Unfortunately, sunnah is somthing we look for, -just so we don't have to do it.

EVERY single muslim in the world, recites "La illahha ilallah Muhammad-ur Rasoolallah".

Everyone accepts Rasool s.a.w to be the BEST example for all of us. THe best creation to walk the earth.

EVERYONE knows, the things he did are right, the things he taught, the things he believed in, were all RIGHT.

EVERYONE claims to love him.

EVERYONE wants to be like him.

BUT, when it comes to things like these, keeping a beard, they can't do it.

IF you can't imitate him, why boast about loving him so much? You can't love something without supporting the love or belief you have for him/her/ whatever.

If you really believe in ALlah and his Prophets pbuh. You'd want to be like them. You'd respect what they were and how they looked. Allah knows why beards are good for us.

The choice is up to us.

Do we love the Prophet pbuh enough to have a beard? *Cuz he definitely did have one. *

Its all up to us.

Re: Is it a sin?

The Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) – regarding both his commands to others and his own actions – is to let the beard grow.

It was proven that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded men to leave the beard alone and let it grow naturally.

Al-Bukhaari, Muslim and others narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Trim the moustache and leave the beard.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5443; Muslim, 600.

According to another report: ‘Be different from the mushrikeen: cut the moustache and let the beard grow.” Narrated by Muslim, 602.

We have been commanded, in Saheeh Hadith, to let the beard grow...which means that cutting it is prohibited, and this is the consensus of the scholars.

Re: Is it a sin?

It is going to be my birthday for the rest of the year :D

Sharabi, if the beard was so important that you would get gunah for not growing it, why isn't it ordered in the Quran?

Re: Is it a sin?

These days you find mushrikeens of all sorts, for example in India there are Hindus and Sikhs. Most Hindus don't grow beard, most Sikhs do, so what will a Muslim do?

Re: Is it a sin?

Jews had beards too, Sikhs don't shave their mustache, as a muslim, shave your mustache.

Barfee not everything is in the quran, some commands are shown by the prophet pbuh.

*Lastly, if we all can't keep a beard, we should atleast respect it, and not call someone backward if they're only practicing what the Prophet pbuh practiced. *

Re: Is it a sin?

While at it, how many males here have beards according to the interpretations of Shariah?
