Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

For me introspection comes first. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

I didn't say anywhere that minorities are not facing any problems in India and the matter covered in the video require no condemnation. The reports from India are alarming. From mass conversion efforts to banning of Ghazal concert of Ghulam Ali and ink attack on organisers of launching of Qasoori's book, every act shows intolerance on part of certain fundamentalists, but still there are voices including Muslims like Naseer u din Shah, Shabana Azmi who are openly condemning such acts.

I have an issue with generalisation of all the society as a whole. I have problem with the attitude that we will get through all this and others will not be able to counter these problems as they have turned completely fascists.

Till the people like Sudheendra Kulkarni exists in India who can face fascist Shiv Sena, I don't find any justification to term whole Indian society as 'fascist'.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Exactly. This is something Indians need to now finally learn. Despite having far gruesome and extensive track record of attacks on minorities than non-secular Pakistan, they had always falsely propagated their saffron secularism at the expense of Pakistan.

No one is 'throwing stones at India' - their glass house is just getting exposed a little for gullible Pakistanis, and hypocritical Indians. Of course Indians, and some Pakistanis are not enjoying this at all.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

In every country, there are liberals, moderates, conservatives. Some may be moderates in certain topics but liberal in other areas.

Clearly, we know who the conservatives are in India. The saffron clad and their fan persons. Conservatives are generally busy abusing minorities and wearing patriotism on their sleeve. Introspection is a foreign concept to them. They engage in hyperbole.

Liberals or fair minded people don't see things as black and white. They introspect. And bring out unpleasant facts about their own people. Which the conservatives decry as self hating, self loathing and foreign sympathezer.

Of course, SOME Pakistanis and SOME Indians won't be happy about this definition

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Modi's fame to Indian premiership was his mass murder of Muslims in Gujarat. He was persona non grata from the West & not long ago he was denied visa by the US State Department. Yet, there are people who are defending this mass murderer. Btw, BJP was founded based on Nazi ideology.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Well put!! I could not have said it better my self… :k:

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

No one here is defending Modi.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Modi was an RSS goon in his youth. Had Pakistan elected a religious extremist mass murderer, international community would have had a collective hissy fits and plans for intervention.

Today Shiv Sena goons invaded BCCI headquarters and cancelled the meeting between PCB and BCCI, chanted filthy anti Pakistan slogans. As we speak speak they are protesting and threatening authorities to send Aleem Dar home who is due to perform umpire's duties in India vs Sa match later this week. Not to mention the whole of India occupied Kashmir is shut down over an innocent man's murder for alleged cow transportation.

The whole world can see rising violent hatred in India for Pakistan (and Muslims) - yet some Pakistanis have the nerve to neutralize Modi and Hindutava extremism by saying 'we are just as bad'. No we are not! Find me any example from Pakistan about the kind of treatment Pakistani guests are receiving in so called secular and all democratic India!

Good thing is that they haven't started their rona dona on Pakistan Army and ISI to hold them responsible for the rising Hindu extremism in India.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

We know very well how much respect you guys give to soldiers. Positive things can be found if someone wants to see. One can see who is partner with JI in KPK. They could form govt wih PMLn and JUI etc, if they wanted. Munwar hassan was replaced as part of democratic process in JI. Still better than ignorance out of which people vote for bhutto. We will never see in our lives sindh being ruled by other than dead bhutto.
btw nafrat to purani ha bahanay naye dhoonday ja rhy hn.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Sorry I did not read the entire thread.
But there can never be one true thing about it India. There is so much diversity in India that people in general are fascist, liberal, atheist, theist etc all the time
We are so many and so diverse that even if we are made to agree on something as basic as one common time for azaan or one common time for arti yet we would find our clocks working differently :D

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Didn't know about the latest Shiv Sena disgusting news. I hope the government does not cave in. The fact that Aleem Dhar- one of the if not the fairest umpire I have seen - is well respected and didn't have an issue anywhere else during the current SA series shows that the there are pockets of bad actors.

Shiv Sena used to terrorize South Indians in late 60 and early to mid 70s. Now it is muslims.

To make this thread about whole of India is dishonest. But that is how passions get stoked. It brings out the worst in people. And some people are glad to stir the pot.

Long time no see.

ICC withdraws Aleem Dar.

So this is how "helpless" Indian Government is in front of bunch of Hindu extremists?

Who still believes in Indian lies that Shiv Sena goons are 'nobody'. These extremist had been part of your democratic process since the memory remembers, they can ban concerts, matches, withdraw Pakistani umpires at whim, nothing seems to stop them or control them.

Does JI or JUI-F enjoy that kind of influence in Pakistan? No bloody way.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

If this happened in Pakistan we'd be banned from hosting any matches (if we weren't already)

Pakistan this Pakistan that - it's all anyone would talk about. Yet since its India, along with all the matchfixing, cheating and other general bullying behaviour it'll be brushed under the carpet.

Hopefully this will open a few peoples eyes in regards to the current state of affairs with India. Pakistani's making excuses for India, especially in the present day climate, is inexcusable.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

There are sectarian issues in Pakistan, you won't find anyone here denying them. Very sad and unacceptable. It's a simple fact though that they're not at the level you're making them out to be, nor are they politically motivated.

You say this isn't a political discussion but it very much is. The whole premise of this thread is political based. Indian policies ARE getting increasingly fascist. Of course it's not hard to see why, like I said before their current PM (who won by a landslide) is guilty of murdering thousands of Muslims. If the BNP got voted in the UK, would we not say racism is on the rise in the UK? How is this any different?

It IS a political discussion because if you were aware of India's present day police with regards to Pakistan, their activities in Afghanistan against Pakistan, their activities in Karachi, their activities in Balochistan - it's all anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim. Their media, their national security advisor, their defence minister - all anti-Pakistan.
The protests against the cricket today are just another example of this. Still, how dare we question amazing secular India.

Incidents such as the one in the original post are just a reflection of this. The level of panic and fear amongst their general public with regards to Pakistan is alarmingly high (and also hilarious) for no reason.

I'd also like to make it clear once more that I don't hate Indians, far from it. I'm friends with many Indians, I meet them everyday. We help each other out. It doesn't detract from anything I've said above though.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

I have put my points. Every one got right to agree or not. But let me tell you one thing, while condemning fascism and hatred of others, we some times show same characteristics in ourselves.

When just having a different view on an issue can earn you titles like 'hypocrite', 'self loathing', 'self hating' and above all comments like getting lost from Pakistan shows tolerance on the part of those who are terming others fascist.

So Bhellh Shah once again comes into picture: Fascist Fascist kar di main aap ae Fascist hui :)

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

Standing up for and defending Pakistan isn't really being fascist (that's a new one) but whatever, carry on.

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

I’m ok with this. I don’t understand why PCB is bending over backward to please Indians. I know there is lot of money involved in this, but what about self-respect?

Re: Is India turning fascist under Modi?

PCB and self-respect cannot be put in the same sentence
