Is india merely a space? Divided by caste, religion, ethnic and social lines, perhaps no where else in the world has unequality been so elaborately constructed as in india.
Christians of Orisa, Muslims of Gujrat and elsewhere, Maost, Tamils, Dalits and so many other socialy deprived, who make more than half of a space called “india” are in danger of exinction. This is resulting in uprisings in more than half of the states in india.
The communication channels (electronic and paper media) controlled by the few powerful people depicts a picture of india which is nowhere near to the ground realities. So now the question is:
Can this space called india, controlled by few powerful corrupt individuals with their hatred towards all the minorities living in and around it, exist in its current form?
^^ Well as neighbors of this india, we the Pakistanis have to care about this as we are the ones who are directly affected by the uprisings and insurgencies in india.
So this has very much to do with PA and is a valid topic for debate.
This thread only confirms what the WSJ article said. Pakistan is what India is not. Can we ever get out of this? Even though I thought that most of the WSJ article was reflective of western media's debauchery and ignorance about the situation on ground, I would agree with the writer that we are too much obsessed with India.
The way to compete with India should have been land reforms at the inception of the country and economic progress. In the 20th century, if a country is your enemy, you beat it economically and not militariliy. Unfortunately, our military used the hugely negative sentiments after the bloodshed during mass migrations after partition to justify its extraordinary hold on the country. The result is our frequent returns to military rule. If we have corrupt politicians, did Indian politicians come from Mars? they were (almost) the same breed as ours.
Quaid-e-Azam did not sell his house in Bombay before or after partition. He expected to frequent India and stay in that house.
Thats ok teggy. I thought it belonged to PA, it has as much to do with Pakistan Affairs as horde of indians (posting their venom on that section) have to do with Pakistan Affairs.

As much as I agree with you on the part that we should concentrate more on economics etc., I do not agree with the part that we are obssessed with india. We are more reactionary, just defending ourselves against the verbal and written attacks initiated by indians. Who BTW care soooooooo much about Pakistan that they would go to every internet platform which has anything to do with Pakistan.
*Thread more suited for World Affairs, hence it is moved here. *
Good for you... Atleast you understood that this topic needed to be moved to the WA forum. Sad that you did not understand that this topic was a tit for tat topic.

In other words, you do not want us to debate a valid issue? Wow!
No one is inviting you to post here, feel free not to take part in the debate, :)
So, with so many freedom movements in india, one has to ask if it is merely a space?
Can this space called india, controlled by few powerful corrupt individuals with their hatred towards all the minorities living in and around it, exist in its current form?
Please discuss.
Yes, it has existed in its current form for 62 years and can exist even in future. Indian minorities are by & large happy as they have opportunities for growth and development. This has been proved time and again by the success of the Indian democracy.
Contrast this with Pakistan which could not exist in the form in which it was created. Remember 1971 ?? There was persecution of Bengalis which ended up splitting the country. While Pak may not have as many insurgent movements as India, the 2-3 that it does have are vastly capable of further breaking the country.
So thanks a lot for your concern about India, but we are absolutely capable of protecting our nation.

This is not what the minorities in the geographical space called india are saying. Christians of Orisa, Sikhs of Punjab, Maosts in half of this india, muslims, budhists, tamils, even low caste hindus...keep asking when finally the time will come when they get their own areas where they can live in peace and without fear of being persecuted by hinduist extremists.
This is the reason there are so many insurgencies and this is the reason they ask why this area called "india" exists in its current form.

Really ?? :) Did you go and ask them ??
For starters, why dont you substantiate what you said - *prove that Indian Christians, Muslims, Budhists, Tamils, low caste Hindus want their own state. *
Even Sikhs whose Khalistan dreams had been fueled by Pakistan, have long realized their folly.

The map of Bodoland overlaps with the districts of Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang and Udalguri in state of Assam. At present, Kokrajhar town serves as the headquarter (capital) of Bodoland.
Hey did you guys hear about the separatist movement that was started recently in Bangalore and guess who wants to be the President of the newly liberated country..
It is just SimplyMe..
There can be n number of separatist movements if you consider mine too. The point is that we have to take a holistic view on things and not be influenced by yellow journalism. India for all its wrongs has not surrendered itself to any terrorist organisation.
