Is hijaab a farz?

Assalamalikum,

Careful with this assumption. I hope you have some facts to back this up? I am a devout follower of this school of thought. I have yet to come across an Ullema who has told me that Niqaab is not an obligation. Thats why I would like to hear your references first so I can assume some differences exist amongst the Hanafi Fuqahaa.

As for considering if Hijaab is fardh or not. Then one does not need to refer to anything else but the Quran.

Really the simplest way of understanding our religion is to look at what the Prophet pbuh propagated to the women of Mecca and Medina, and what his Sahabas’ implemented as a rule in their own homes and cities.

Once you discover how important hijaab was for them. Then it doesn’t matter what people say, what society tells you, you do what the Prophet pbuh and his Companions r.a. did. Its just that simple. Any advice we ask others is just a way to find an excuse from doing it.

If we don’t do it, thats ok too, we should pray that we get the himmah to do so. Its not easy to wear a hijaab in today’s day and age, however, if one has the conviction and firm faith in Allah swt. This simple act of modesty will go a long way inshAllah.

Most scholars of today, don’t consider niqab an obligation.
