Hello.
i am just wondering and i want you guys to share your thoughts too on this issue which is becomming a shame for a Nuclear Power country.
imagine a Nuclear power but do not have electricity power.
When media highlights anthing about the corrupt politicians, i have noticed that in couple of days we start facing economic problems such as power shortage, food shortage etc.Now my the point i want to make is that Do you think Government is creating these issues deliberately to avoid people of pakistan asking for their rights?
re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
^^ If we the people have no problem at all, then we'll not tolerate the corruption by the govt. figures, now govt. has created crisis for us to suffer with while they carry with their normal scope of corruption....
I think it'll be not long when people shall march to Islamabad or any other corridor of power and kill the so-called ministers and elected members.. action re-play of Kyrgyzstan but with little room for PM and President to escape...
re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
its not necessary to march. just held peaceful demonstration every part of country against corrupt people and ask government to do some thing immediatly or step down.
and never come back again.

What do you thing people are doing... take a news roundup
every other day, there are demonstrations by the people protesting against the power-cuts.. funny thing is, protesters are demanding to not to do it unannounced.. but the govt. seems to have some kind of grudge against the people of Pakistan, specially against the people of Lahore/Punjab... 8-16 hours a day is announced and practice is 14-18 hrs.. and if i not wrong, situation will get worse as the traders in Lahore are looking forward to lay-offs because of power-cuts.. not to mention many small business are already closed and people are just wondering why is this happening...
re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
I won't be surprised if its all about winning lucrative contracts by RPPs.
Remember ENRON, they created artificial power shortages in California for various reasons like maintenance, grid station malfunctions etc and kept raising the prices.
I know a person who works at a large hydroproject who maintains that its running well below capacity bcoz maintenanework is not being done.
re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
but after all this demo stuff is government doing anything?? no. nothing at all..
re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
^^ Thats why i said, when people get frustrated they'll attack PM and President, then no army or guards would be able to save them from people's anger... Govt. is working hard to get into this kind of situation.. and the motive is as Icono mentioned, greed and lust for money
...... imagine a
1 Nuclear power but do not have
2 electricity power.
..
Those are two different things.
Nuclear power === Bumb maro Bumb, mit ja-aay ghum (and the dumb-bumbs are made from "borrowed or stolen" tech from the West.)
Nuclear Electricity === sign the NPT, be a good world citizen, follow the laws, and then build power generation by "legally acquiring" the tech from the West.
Thus #1 and #2 are 180 opposite from each other.
However if you get #2 aka electricity first, then one day you may become industrial power, and thus the world power.
If on the other hand you get #1 first without becoming industrial power, then you will become even more desperate, and more poor, and thus more corrupt.
Thus we have the wrong priorities when it comes to industrial development.
It is safe to say that acquisition of Nuclear dumb-bumb has lead (so far) to the poverty, lack of industrialization, and thus MUCH HIGHER corruption in Pakistan.
However, us the Paks have a habit of "false pride" aka gharoor aka takabbur. So we'll not accept our mistakes.
And thus we'll continue getting poorer (as a nation) and thus more corrupt (as a nation).
Because our corruption is the result of poverty, and that makes us LESS SECURE and not MORE SECURE.
The poverty that results form not using our aql.
However if you get #2 aka electricity first, then one day you may become industrial power, and thus the world power.
No country has become a world powerwithout military might, ever in the history of mankind.
re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
What is the solution?? lets just not talk.. do some thing.
What is the solution??...
Good suggestion.
The solution is somewhat simple if we are willing to change. However the change in our policies will not come until we update our mindset.
Think about this.
If you wanted to be the best soccer player in the world, what are the basic requirements?
- You should be young enough
- you pick up one of the top soccer players in the world as your hero.
- Find the right club, where the best possible "coach" is available and willing to train you.
Similarly the countries who want to improve, must have the same set of things available.
- the country should be young enough (and Pakistan is)
- The country should select one of the top powers (Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, France, USA, Canada) in the world as its hero (and Pakistanis do not).
- The country has to join the right club, where the best possible "coach" is available and is willing to train us. (and Pakistanis do not want to join the best club for training).
And thus we are marooned at the bottom of economic hell, keeping company with Islamist Jannats of Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, Egypt, and other tribal countries such as Congo, Sierra Leon, and Liberia.
Hope that answers your question.
re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
^That doesn't answer anything.

OK then give your model for development.
No country has become a world powerwithout military might, ever in the history of mankind.
Do you consider Japan a world power?

Yeah this is the typical answer if you don't think about the realities.
corruption is not the cause but a mere symptom of the disease called "poverty" and bad economy.
In other words, corruption can be termed as $hite that comes out of the "business end" of things.
Yes corruption is smelly, awful, terrible looking, just like $hite.
And if you focus too much on $hite or play with it for long time, or worse you try to stop it completely, then either the $hite analyst would die of being in the unhealthy environment, or the patient would simply die due to the closure of the "business end".
Societies suffer not because of corruption aka their waste, but the net intake.
In other words,
for a healthy male, you need 2500+ calories a day. and a portion of that gets digested and the rest goes out as $hite aka corruption.
If a male is sick, and we know that he is only getting 200 calories, then the first thing to do is to figure out how to provide him the needed 2300 calories instead of raising slogans to fix his $hite.
Why because in the worst case he is wasting all 200 calories. And if you recover them all (impossible) still he is deficient of 2300 calories.
Similarly Pakistan needs at least 300 billion dollars a year to have a decent life for its citizens. But it is living on 30 billion a year. And thus deficient of 270 billions.
If you assume the corruption is 100 % (which is not the actual case but just a worst case scenario), even then you would only recover 30 billions, and Pakistan still is deficient of 270 billions.
Got it?
Re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
Pearls of financial wisdom. :)
Re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
My dear the whole question is how do you go about gettingthose 270 billion? Its rather naive (to put it lightly) that by signing NPT, we'll be handed over that money yearly.
Re: Is government doing this all on purpose?
well what if people say we want government to step down. but again who will lead? i think supreme court should take action by declearing each and every political person defaulter and take money back. second only new fresh people apart for political families sould be allowed to enter into politics..
