I need to know the answer, becuase usually left hand is used to clean the arse so I was wondering if it is permissable to use it for eating purposes? (after washing it ofcourse)

Eating from right hand is sunnah. The rest is for you to figure out. I don't think there is a direct halal/haram ruling in the Quran about which hand to use while eating.

Eating with your right hand ties into the sunnah that you are suppose to make a conscious effort to do all the unclean things with your left hand, like blowing your nose, or washing yourself or picking garbage from the floor and you use your right hand to do all things that are clean like eating or extending the hand of friendship & peace to another human being. One can be sure that a Muslim right hand when extended for salaam is always clean & hasn't been to any questionable places.
If you pick your nose with your right hand then eating with your left doesn't matter.
Though eating with your left hand isn't a sin in any way.

I have never seen a Muslim eat with a left hand in my life...Even you Maniac...
Even with the spoon or a fork, every Muslim uses the right hand...
Now if you are talking knife and fork, then I too eat with my left hand...

Lajawab, its very tough for me to eat with my right hand :) Atleast as far as making nawala's with roti is concerned. I can handle instruments just fine with either, but find it hard to make nawala's. Typically i make nawal with the left, then transfer it to the right and eat that. Or just use spoon and fork (i mostly end up eating rice with everything so spoon and fork works just fine).

It depends on how much you love the sunnah or how much importance you give to it after performing the needful faraidh.

Perhaps it also depends on if you rely on 7th century desert practices to keep yourself clean or use modern products and facilities.

Well i heard it was makhruh when i ate with my left hand...
Now i understand that most things were done right handed...but is the emphasis specifically on the right hand itslef...or just the correct hand...as in the Prophet was right handed so did things with his right hand...as in do all the same rules apply to those who are left handed?...

Semi, in pak and other muslim countries they still look at bidet as if it was a foreign object (pun intended). Good old left hand is still used to get the job done. If you dont understand this post…PM me and I will explain the procedure in detail …

So a lefty would use his right hand to get the job done. So then, since Islam puts a lot of emphasis on hygeine, the lefty should use his left hand to eat.

Come on man! Why this $tupidy of asking childish questions. Your Ma and Pa must have told you what hand to use where. If you do end up cleaning your arse, just wash them good (your arse and your hand). You will be OK.
Bottom line, use good soap and keep your hands clean you can certainly use both left and right hands for eating, drinking, …ing, …ing etc.

Yeah those 7th century desert practices are still effective enough that we have never heard of hemroids in these parts, unlike constantly constipated nasty napaak westerners readily suffering from it…
