In societies where law and order reign supreme yes it is, but where corruption and nepotism is rife then you could argue otherwise.

You live in USA so you know better than me, but for all of Trump's bigoted rhetoric I don't think he can implement racist policies if he's President. He will change his tune then, we know he flip flops as it is. If the majority of the population votes for a bigot then well its on them! I don't think we can criticise democracy for peoples' decisions.

theorist - it's not really about dictators either. and as for anarchy, that sits on complete lack of governance which is not going to work. just because democracy fails in some situations, does not mean that the whole concept is flawed. a tighter, more well regulated form of government seems ideal where voice is given to reason and "freedom of speech" isn't abused.

Maybe time for America to re-think it's two party democracy. I'm pro democracy, but pro multi party democracy, I strongly believe that there should always be a third option.
On topic, in the words of Churchill, democracy is the worst form of government until you consider all other forms of governments that had been tried. So democracy is just a better option, but by no means the perfect system. There is always room for improvements in any democracy.

@Jolie, well we have Green party, and then running as an independent candidate is always an option. The thing with USA socio political issues is that the issues are so black and white, that you are either on one side or the other. There is no third option, hence there is hardly a need for a third political party.
