According to the Hanafi Madhab, crab is not permissible. Only fish is permissible. There are differences of opinion among the Ulama about prawns being a fish or not. In view of that, there is a leeway to eat prawns. It is Taqwa to abstain from eating anything doubtful. It is not permissible to eat lobsters and calamari as they are not considered as fish.

Extreme Muslims=those who avoid Haram as well as 'Makrooh'and doubtfull things.

ewww I am disgusted by shrimps, lobster, squids, crabs etc so they are all markrooh to me :D I do not see any point in eating such tiny small keerey makoray. A plain fish, like king fish or salmon is exceptionally simple to eat :D

Please, help me understand where in above ayaah, it is mentioned that sea food species are halaal if they do not have blood in their vessels? Give me a reference from Quran on that condition… Only Quran please

Coming back to the question… Crab meat is halaal in all four school of thoughts but according to Imam Abu Hanifa:rehm:, it also falls under the category of shrimps which are considered “makrooh” in his fiqh. Please, note that Makrooh is not equal to haraam… Makrooh only means that if you feel disgusted with it, it is highly recommended to avoid it but consumable otherwise.

That’s my understanding as well.

Moderates are people who dont indulge in this stupid debate over crab meat being halal or not. They dont bother auditing their favorite restaraunt to verify if the verbal assurance was true. Moderates will eat a vegeterian meal even if the restaraunt serves alcohol.

What are moderates? Well, moderates are smart. They know what halal is, and they trust when someone tells them their food is halal. They dont buy into monthly debate over halal and haram.

Our religion is another religion where it's better not to have dialogue. Most people have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. Read the quran, and do whatever you want.
