Is British sense of humour

Re: Is British sense of humour

Ok, I'm confused now, 'cause I don't know which category I belong to :(

On a more serious note:

I've lived in the States as well as the Uk, almost equal amounts of time. Overall, I find Americans alot more friendlier in nature, more welcoming.

I find the Brits more reserved, not has happy and the filth that comes on the TV here is appalling. Not that the US is a saint, but still, I was seriously shocked to see some of the stuff that came on normal TV here :\ There is more 'hatred' in the atmosphere and I'm not sure if I feel this 'cause I'm Pakistani and we are more or less despised here (something I didn't feel in the States). We may get the friendly nature from some, but deep down inside, they don't want us here, lol.

I don't think the people of any one country is more intelligent than the other however, I do feel Brits are more aware of what is happening around the world. Most Americans don't really know what's happening in the next State, never mind the world. They are sheltered in a 'protective bubble' and I think 911 was a real awakening for them.

IF given the chance, I'd pick to live in the US anytime, but there is a small part of me that is growing to love England too.

Re: Is British sense of humour

hey i knew russell peters was canadian! :naraz:

i was…just um testing you :snooty:

The Tester failed the Test :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Is British sense of humour

yah the brits humour sucks, thats why they even copied "the office" ;) or how they copied americans and had the show "coupling"

I find TLK mildly amusing when he talks about brit humour being about bodily functions and such when we have the great comedians like andrew dice clay, sam kinison, eddie murphy, richard pryor, dr. dirty etc here in US. ( i still find them funny..)

I find both places have their own flavour and man, why limit yourself to one?

COMPLETELY AGREE! My heart is in England because of the memories of growing up there but I find life much more agreeable in the States, having lived here for half my life. London is no longer the clean, fun safe place it once used to be.

But British humour cannot ever be compared to American. Only the Brits can understand Goodness Gracious me or Office. And personally, I think the British version was much better!

Re: Is British sense of humour

How can you prefer the States, they dont have Hula Hoops there...or Jaffa Cakes! The food is naff...completely vile.

Re: Is British sense of humour

I am not limiting myself to US humor. I am also a big fan of paki humor aka Rangeela style. Now that is what I call comedy.

:hehe: yep it must be

:rotfl: Well I only liked Jerry Sienfield and Rowan Atkinson mr.beans.But office is not that bad also.

Re: Is British sense of humour

Rowan Atkinson is no doubt a master of physical comedy

I like Jay Leno too his jokes are funny.:hehe:

Re: Is British sense of humour

You need to watch Ellen Degenres .. not her show, but her stand up comedy ..

Post some in Video gallery I'll watch it there as my tv is not working these days.

Re: Is British sense of humour

cheapo desi people.. saaray kaam youtube pe hee kernaa .. yeah nahi ke naya TV khareed lain

Re: Is British sense of humour

Goodness Gracious Me was fantastic. Kumars at No. 42 never managed to reach that standard. Through their comedy, they improved the status of British Asians here by introducing concepts as ‘Going for an English’, ‘Everything Indian’ and recognising a lot of stereotypes within the Asian community- ‘You can make it at home’:rotfl:

Omid Djalili can be quite entertaining (His Iranian dancing:omg:) but obnoxious when crude. Same applies to Russell Brand.

Peter Kay

Lenny Henry/ the lady who used to appear with him on the Lenny Henry show..Gina something…she was hilarious

Bremner, Bird and Fortune/ Have I got News for you/Mock the Week- political satires in nature, whilst Bremner et al impersonate numerous famous politicians, amazingly funny.

I am trying to think of something other than Russell Peters who is American and makes me laugh:konfused: Oh Allah made me Funny  Kudos to the Americans

Re: Is British sense of humour

ahh u kiddies, anyone remember real mccoy, dyamn fool man and eeediot bwoy? :)

Re: Is British sense of humour

her name is Gina yashere I lov her

Kis ney kaha ke mera tv kharaab hai bas band para hai :naraz:

And I'm sure you found it quite easy to settle down there as well?? I found it quite hard here :( PPl finding out I was American didn't help matters either ... for some reason, the Brits hate everyone else apart from them themselves :s

Its only cuz of time and the fact I have built my lil life here that I dont want to let go Of England ... but trust me, given the chance by my family, I'd run back .. lol.

Oh well .... its all about perspective, just be happy and content with Allah swt has given you, then you'll always be happy =)
