I don’t understand this concept.

Most Indian actors and actressess are shown to have fair skin, anglo-looks, tall, etc..

but most Indians don’t look like that…

They are of darker complexion, more dravidan looks…

So does that mean that Bollywood picks actors and actressess not on their talent or acting ability but rather on their looks.

And even with their looks, they have to be fair, tall, have a little anglo-look in them.

In this way, its subversive to say that the more fair you are the better looking you are and the more darker you are the ugly you are…

Is it any surprise that all bollywood bad guys have typical indian looks and having dark complexion but all heros and heroins have fair complexion and they look mediterranean rather than indian…

but that too depends on the typical psychology of men always thinking that fair and tall women are the only beautiful.

Bollywood is a Hindi Fim Industry means It's dominated by the Hindi speaking pupulation of India which is spread over North, North West and Middle India and the people here belong to Indo-Aryan ethnic groups.

Dravidians are South Indians they have their own Film Industries like Kannada, Telugu, Malyali, Tamil etc.

North-East and East Indians too have their own Films like Assamese, Manipuri, Bhojpuri, Bengali etc.

Every non-hindi areas have their own language films which are dominated by their own ethnic people but yet Bollywood have markable presence in these areas.

I don't think so... 2 of the biggest stars in bollywood Amitabh and Sharukh are not fair.Madhuri Dixit was not fair...being fair may be important in bollywood but its not that important.

Quite a few bolloywood actors are only half indian, while a couple are 100% foreigners. John Abraham is half Iranian. Yana Gupta is Czech

hmm well it is not only the bollywood lot that think this have u ever watched pak dramas and in there all u see r skinny fair girls who normally have long black hair hmm. my point here is why have i never seen a fat person in one of the lead roles and if they r it is always men not women

haan i know it is showbussiness but i hate wen some ppl claim oh we make dramas or even some films based on wats going in society so the society we live in all the ppl r tall fair and skinny wow wat a society

i dont think they PICK fair skinned individuals. some of the nation's favorites are Kajol, Bipasha, Sharukh and Amitabh. all dark skinned.
Kajol and bipasha have even appeared without too much "white makeup" too and they are still adored. dont forget the great Mithun Chakraborty...sp?
A few years ago Govinda , despite being chubby, was a lead hero...

But again, movie industry has neither to do with racism nor they care about it. They will be racist if they have to for making more profit.
Its all business.

BTW would you consider a dark girl beautiful, or a dark boy handsome??
Most of the people make fun of Indians for being dark and thus ugly (typical anti bangladeshi mentality) without even looking their own color.

u hear them saying how pakis are whiter and indians are dark and ugly.and then complaining about how society looks as white as pretty and dark girls dont get rishtas. they get pissed at a somewhat dark indian heroine looking whiter on tv (as if its WRONG to try to change your skin color…but then they make fun saying “oh she’s actually dark” …as if its WRONG to be dark too) :confuzzled:

yes i have to admit the pak ppl do this whole fair skin is superior thing i am pakistani live in egland and am fair skinned and my sister is also fair but someone goes she is dark they came for rishta and said this and my sister turned out and goes well is ur son brad pitt? lolz pity they didnt who she was on bout lolz

hmm there r light skined and dark skinned ppl in the country so.... i dont think it is much racist i mean come on bipasha was voted india sexist woman ahead of ash sush and preity so wats that saying?

agreed...i also think most of the celebs aren't fair...but are shown fair..i.e. aishwarya...kajol yada yada...
but bipasha basu...shes fairly dark...so i dunno i guess maybe....
