John Abraham was born in Mumbai. His father is Mujda, a Malayalee Christian architect, born in Aluva, Kerala, while his mother is Hadia Parsi, a basketball teacher in her younger years. His original name is Farhan, but he was called John as per his father's wish.
There was an incident two years ago when actress Pooja Bhatt, daughter of Indian soft pornographer Mahesh Bhatt told a dark skinned actress in Hyderabad to forget about acting in Hindi movies and to concentrate on Telugu movies instead. There is an undercurrent of discrimination based on colour in Hindi films - it cannot be called racism as there are no racial differences involved, just those of colour. This difference, however, does not apply to the huge regional film industries in the South of India where people are dark and do not have any qualms or reservations about choosing actresses with more realistic and natural looks. The Mumbai film industry probably gets reported more on in Pakistan as the Hindi language is understood to an extent there while Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada etc, all languages with rich literature and film industries fall flat because theya re completely different from Hindi. For someone who understands the Southern languages, their films are usually preferable to some of the Mumbai crap.
Only a few Indian actors are fairer skinned in reality.. they do make-up. Hrithik Roshan is fair-skinned cuz his mother is muslim or something.. Shahrukh is dark-skinned cuz he's mixed. father was from peshawar and mother was a madrasi woman. Preity Zinda is a mulsim Rajput..
^ ^ let me get it right , you mean hritik is fair skinned cuz he is mixed but shahruk is dark cuz he is mixed ????
BTW hritik's mother is a dark bengali. and i think priety is punjabi
uhh...aside from all this really interesting discussion, do we really care about bollywood actor/actresses' pedigree??
bollywood ain't prejudiced. it's the society's viewpoint. gora people rock, local, been-living-here-before-the-greek's suck. it's been that way since the invasion from europe. same in pakistan, same in bangladesh, etc. etc. the rest of the gora people, eg bipasha, and kajol and rani, all thanks to great foundation.
Dude where do u get this kind of absurd info, hats off to your research i cant stop laughing
Hrithik Roshan is fair-skinned cuz his mother is muslim or something**
Hrithik was born in Mumbai, India, to actress Pinky and actor Rakesh Roshan, who was himself the son of a well-known film-music director Roshan. Rakesh later turned to film production and direction. Hrithik’s entry into acting extended the Roshan family role in Bollywood to the third generation.
**2) Shahrukh is dark-skinned cuz he’s mixed. father was from peshawar and mother was a madrasi woman
**Born into a Muslim family of Pathan origin in Delhi, he has a Masters Degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi. His wife is Gauri Khan (formerly Gauri Chibber), a Punjabi from Delhi. He has a son named Aryan Khan (born November 12, 1997) and a daughter named Suhana Khan (born May 23, 2000). He has a sister named Shenaz, nicknamed Lala-Rukh.
**3) Preity Zinda is a mulsim Rajput. Born in Shimla, native of Rohru, she studied at the Jesus and Mary Simla Convent School after getting a degree in criminal psychology at the St. Bedes College. Her father, Durganand Zinta was an officer in the Indian Army. Durganand Zinta died when Preity was thirteen, in a car accident in which her mother, Nilprabha Zinta was also involved. Her mother was bedridden because of this incident. Zinta has two brothers, Deepanker Zinta and Manish Zinta, a year older and a year younger respectively. One of her brothers is a commissioned officer in the Indian Army.
bollywood's actors look the way desi people look coming in all different colors.
yea, amitabh, shah rukh, abhishek, nana patekar, Rani, Kajol, etc are dark skinned but so is a good portion of the desi community.
But then you also have the naturally fair people too like Hrithik, Ash, Preity, Kareena, Karishma, etc because a good portion of desi people are fair skinned.
an then you also have the medium browns too.
But I do think that the great, successful ones out of all of these people are the dark skinned actors:)
