Is Allah (swt) emotive?

Does Allah (swt) have feelings in the sense that when His creatures do good things, He is happy and when they sin He is sad and when they hurt, He hurts?

Re: Is Allah (swt) emotive?

He is all knowing by definition, so he knows how his creatures will behave at any point in time. there doesnt seem to be any room for any reaction, let alone emotion.

Re: Is Allah (swt) emotive?

Allah Loves without the blindness of Love yet more powerfully than many mothers for their children

Allah Hates without the thirst of hatred yet with critical absolute Justice

Allah is Kind without the weakness of kindness yet with unmatched Mercy

and so on ... every absolute Attribute of purity belings to Him ... yet at the same time it is Unique and does not resemble our version of those traits.

Emotion does not have to be time bound

Liked what you said... :)

:hmmm:

Re: Is Allah (swt) emotive?

I was wondering the exact same thing today but then it didn't make sense to me that Allah swt is emotive in the same manner as humans.

Very nicely put by psyah

Re: Is Allah (swt) emotive?

hmm I think Allah swt Created emotions, so how can we say He is emotive?

Re: Is Allah (swt) emotive?

Jazaakallah psyah, awesome post.

Subhan'Allah! :)

I've wondered about this question before as well. I think I'll ask one of the teachers at school who are knowledgeable about Islam.

But here's what I wonder. We believe (as mentioned multiple times in the Quran as well) that Allah is Compassionate and Merciful. One of his names is Al-Wadud, which means The Loving.

Now, compassion and mercy involve EMOTION. It is said that Allah loves His servants more than a mother loves her child. Love involves emotion.

You could say that Allah shows His mercy and compassion through the ACTIONS of forgiveness and granting us blessings. But don't actions require emotion?

For example, a mother stays up all night to take care of her sick child. This is an ACTION, but it is one that is involves emotion. You might hit someone and the emotion that fueled the action of "hitting" is anger or rage.

I KNOW that we can't compare Allah to human beings because He is the one who created us. I'm just trying to
