I am interested in a raw silk suit with dupatta. The kameez would have light threading embroidery on the neckline and bottom of daman. A little threading would be on the bottom of the pants as well. I am getting a quote of $175 for this. Is this too much or in line with costs of having it done?

the fabric + dying + stiching would not cost more than $40 max. the designers charge you for the designs and the brand name/label.

175$ for a raw silk suit is very much if its not a designer suit....
I am living in US buying from Pakistan. I think the embroidery is light silver threading. The pictures are not very clear, but i love the color combination look of the suit. I was a bit surprised at the $175 price. But if it’s fair, it’s fair. This person who I want to order from has produced good quality, good customer service and clean stitching and kaam in the past.
Here is a very unclear picture of a close up I tried to capture on my computer. There is light silver embroidery on the bottom of the kameez and dark pink threading on the bottom of the pants.
I’m sorry I don’t have better pictures. It might be hard to give a good price assessment.

Looks light in the picture, but I should clarify if the person making would add more on the neckline. She did say threading.

Hey I got my suit from Indusmart its 160 plus $30 for shipping the work up is more than this I think the fabric is nice and very soft not sure what fabric it is. I think for that one 175 seems a lot.

many people have misconception here of work, more the work more expensive it is, well its wrong.
embroidery cost is determined how long it takes to do certain motifs/ whole work, one motif can be done in 1 hour and same motif can take up to a day depending upon the way it is embellished amount of needle stitches it has.
and in the end all comes down to how it is finished and it looks.

fabric is Katan silk weaved with golden zarri, we can call it katan banarsi as well.

I suppose that is true. I think fabric matters a lot too. A lot of the ordering that I did from Indian vendors have substandard fabric and the cleanliness of appplication was missing, or the back of the dress was unembleished to the 'kaam' stops at the back of the neck etc. I am looking forward to my suit as well! Hope it arrives prior to Nov. 16th!
