Re: Irene...
Depends on when you get there. I just checked Costco near my house, they're out of batteries already (I never thought I'd see that day), very little water left, running out of non-perish items fast.
- If you need batteries go to a Best Buy or Home Depot etc and pick up from there.
- Flashlights with LED's last longer and are brighter.
- Fill up your car tanks.

The flight will arrive at 8 PM EST, Inshallah. I am concerned about stocking up because I'll be the only one home this weekend.
Thanks for the advice, I'll be proactive on this one.
Re: Irene...
According to the evacuation plans, my home is in the A zone which has evacuation orders. Luckily my husband is working in CT this weekend so we drove earlier this week to CT. Just as we were heading out, I told my husband to close the windows just in case it rains. I am so glad we did that warna.. sigh.. No one has our key to the apartment. Allah mera ghar salamt rakhay.. mera tv specially. What will I do without my TV :D..
I've survived many hurricanes. This one looks much smaller to be honest magar hype itna.. ufff..
Re: Irene...
We have plenty of water, candles and a gas stove in the garage. I am really hoping we won't be needing any of that stuff though. Let's see what happens.

Hurricane Irene!
This is scary.
I have family in New York so am worried for them. They are trying to get flights to London but flights are packed and are now driving towards the next airport out of the city.
Does anyone else have fam’ in New York and any info’ on what is currently happening there? Updates on the weather etc?
“M*IT meteorology professor Kerry Emanuel said the flooding from Irene could be worse than the 1938 New England hurricane that killed 564 people.”
'We’ve never done a mandatory evacuation before in any part of this city,’ he said yesterday. ‘The sun is shining but don’t be misled - there’s a very dangerous storm headed in our direction.’
'One of my greatest nightmares was having a major hurricane go up the whole Northeast Coast,’ said Max Mayfield, ex-chief of the National Hurricane Center. ‘This is going to have an impact on the United States economy.’

Re: Hurricane Irene!
iA i hope we wont have a disaster, as the state of NY is prepared for the worst. I have my sister and all her in-laws in NY.
Also all the GS residents in those areas, stay safe.
Re: Irene...
Stay safe people. Allah aap sub ko apni hifz o imaan mayn rakhay.
Re: Hurricane Irene!
Its not the end of world. With that said, its a bad storm and we’re just preparing for the worst. Hopefully its going to miss us, as many have in the past. Most of the areas that evacuated are the ones below sea level and islands sticking out; and hospitals and senior care facilities etc.
It should be passing a little east of New York City. Anyhow, you probably know the rest from the news. Just say a little prayer.
Re: Irene...
Best wishes NY/NJ/VA/NC guppies...just read about hurricane Irene and that these states are under alert...May Allah protect you all and your families.
