Iraqis thank President Bush/ And finally there were flowers (merged)

"All the signs are saying that [Saddam’s] regime is collapsing. But the U.S. is cautioning that this is not over yet.

However, residents of Saddam City seemed to have made up their minds: It’s over. Saddam Hussein no longer matters. And his security forces don’t matter any more.

That’s why they are on the streets, cheering his fall, cheering the fall of the ruling Baath Party, welcoming U.S. troops and saying ‘thank you’ to President Bush. "

Thank god that the suffering of the Iraqi people under the brutal dictator will come to and end. And thank god for the free people of the US coalition that sacrificed their lives for them.

Our prayers should be with everyone who lost their lives in this fight to remove one of the most vicious dictators in history.

I do not find any truth in the statement "never a good war, never a bad peace".

u.s soldiers received with Olive leaves…

may be the term `olive leaves’ too exaggerated.but reports show jubiliant iraqis welcome the U.S troops and a wide spread un -prescedented lootings are taking place in the western part of the city of Baghdad.

i saw on T.V, a few iraqis chanting slogans against saddam and welcoming the U.S troops as they enter the city.what may be the reason for this sudden u-turn of iraqi people.it is said that the iraqi ****es living in the western side of the city are in the forefront to show their defiance against saddam and his regime.

Good luck Iraqis.

What fools, these are the same fools dancing and cheering on the streets that used to cheer for saddam while he was in regime. They are like camelins that change their colour to match the environment. The same people will be firing at the USA when given a chance.

Really the pictures that CNN is sending right now SUCK BIG TIME!

Just take an exile Iraqi, let them praise the USA and condemn Saddam, voila propaganda US style.

People did cheer Saddam or if they didn't they would be killed.

It's not just CNN but Al-Jazeera, Sky News, and every other Media across the world. They are pictures of Iraqis celebrating yet you say they "suck"...you would rather have these people suppressed by Saddams regime rather than have them free which makes the U.S. look good, that's truly pathetic.

Good to see the arab americans in Dearborn waving American and Iraqi flags. God bless the iraqi people and the brave coalition fighters. :k:

Denial of reality amongst muslim world via Al-Jazeera is astounding. I saw on TV yesterday some reporter in Middle east saying that lot of Arabs believe, even as of last evening, that Americans have fabricated the movie/images of Baghdad somewhere else and are no where close to Baghdad. It hurts them deep inside to see that Saddam can be actually defeated and Iraqis could be happy about it.

The crocodile tears of most Internet mullahs about Iraqi civilians are bull of crap. They would rather see the suffering of these people continue thorugh Saddam regime, through prolonged fight in the city for the sake of seeing few dead Americans, through suicie suads or whatever possible as long as they can point out a finger at America saying see you cruel ******* or a "got yaah ha ha ha ha". Really pathetic mindset.

No they cheered Saddam because the people (masses) need a reason to cheer for. They will even cheer 'POO the BEAR' if he is the president. Just like you cheer blindly for BUSH. Every regime have people with and against (opposition). There are people cheering at the same time people not cheering, but the attention given to the 'few' that are cheering just shows what US want to show the world 'Look we are your freedom givers' . What makes you think that US made the people free, do you think the 'dictators' that the US will place on the Iraqis will be any better.

Saddam kill his own people or US kill the Iraqis, what is the difference. In both way the people are suffering.

The difference? The difference is that the killing that's happening now (which is NOT intentional -by the US forces anyway) will STOP.

If Saddam kept control, the killing (that's intentional by the hands of his regime) would CONTINUE.

I think Shias and Kurds are happy to see Saddam go. 60% of Iraq's population are Shias and were practically slaves of the Sunni minority. Let now Shias rule Iraq and see how Sunnis feel. Iran wants Shias to rule post-Saddam Iraq.

Why would Shias and Kurds love Saddam. He drove millions of Shias to Iran, saying these were loyal to Iran than Iraq. Nearly 400,000 Iranians and Iraqus were killed in eight year Iran-Iraq war.

Which arabs are you talking about who prefered Saddam instead of any other animal?
Maybe you mean the ol dirty bast. King Hussain and his sons!

Absolutely right, SadiaaB :k:

Funny that Saddam can kill his own people without much reaction in that part of the world. But when the deaths are of a result of removing him to provide a better future, you speak out.
[/quote]

What's even more funny is that that coalition terrorists use the excuse that Saddam is a horrible man, and has used WMD on his own people and therefore must be removed from power. Where were they 15 years ago, why weren't they saying this 15 years ago after he gassed the kurds? Is it because he was the US's best friend at the time, and that they can use and abuse people at will, for their own selish reasons?

And what does US and its people get out of ALL this.

  1. Award of of honour for the humanitary efforts, of saving the poor Iraqi people.

  2. Cheap and free oil.

:ahaa:

Yeah man i say the americans are mass murderers, don't they just love to forget hiroshima and kawasaki. (their grave yards)

So how can one trust killers, terrorists, even if they come with white gown and angle circle over their heads.

Sadia, before this war talk started I used to by gasoline for $1.09 per gallon. Three days ago I bought it for @2.29. If in the next 1 year the gasoline prices go under $1.09 per gallon I will accept that you were right about it.

One country that is not going to get it free oil from Iraq any more is Syria. everyone else is going to pay the international price that they pay to other sellers.

I don't think that is true. No one loves Saddam but most people in the Arab/Muslim world are under no illusions about what could be temporary freedom at the cost of many innocent lives.

I myself won't begrudge the Iraqi's their cheers and happiness at the end of Saddam's regime despite the fact I don't think war is right or justified. The Iraqi people deserve this much at least after all these years of oppression. Lets all hope and pray that the effects of freedom achieved from the pains and tragedy of many are lasting and tangible.
