Iranian President and Jews statements regarding Israel (merged)

While some Guppies would like to believe that the U.S. is making Iran out to be the bad guy the truth of the matter is that the leader of Iran is a nut job.

Days after announcing that Iran had successfully enriched uranium, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday called Israel a "rotten, tree" that will be annihilated by "one storm."

The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm," he said. "Like it or not, the Zionist regime is heading toward annihiliation," Ahmadinejad said.

Ahmadinejad fired a series of verbal shots at Israel, saying it was a "permanent threat" to the Middle East that will "soon" be liberated, and again questioning the validity of the Nazi Holocaust against Jews in World War II.

The land of Palestine, he said, referring to the British mandated territory that includes all of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, "will be freed soon."

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

Perhaps if he just wore a T-Shirt that says, "Please Bomb Me" things would be clearer.

President NutJob is simultaneously whipping up a nationalist fervor, displaying wacky new military weapons, and taking every opportunity to rant with warlike bluster.

There was a theory floating around that he is really a religious nut who believes that he was elected as part of a cosmic scheme that was a prelude to the second coming of the Prophet. Hello Armageddon. Wonderful.

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

the president of iran is living in a fantasy world if he thinks the iranian army can wipe out israel

israel has over 200 nukes, enough to wipe out iran and half the middle east

and even if iran launches nukes on israel, since the wind blows in from the mediterranean sea into land

all the nuclear fallout will be carried inland over in west bank and jordan

this guy is a complete nut case

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

Good points M2K! It is time to catch this rat and put him in jail, just like Saddamn and Milasovec.

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

He looks like neighborhood gangster who gets attention by issuing such statements without thinking of its impact on higher level, guys like him are very short-sighted but unfortunately in mid-east/south asia they get longer career then their own sights!

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

He may be a nutjob, but so are a lot of other "leaders" of their nations.

Re: Iranian president: ‘Rotten’ Israel will be annihilated by ‘one storm’

Or perhaps he is simply “Pear Shaped Ali”?

Iran May Climb Down Over N-Issue Sooner Than West Expects

Amir Taheri

Was Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahamdinejad inspired by a Tehrani folk tale to try and lead the Islamic republic out of what looks like the most serious foreign policy crisis in its history?
The question arose the other day as Iranians watched the firebrand president announce Iran’s “full entry into the nuclear club.”
The announcement was carefully choreographed for maximum effect.
It took place in Mash’had, Iran’s second largest city and the site of the nation’s holiest Shiite shrine. The announcement was also made on the eve of the arrival in Tehran of a negotiating team headed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director Muhammad El-Baradei. Ahmadinejad, with a giant Iranian flag in the background, also described the announcement as a “special present” on the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The show was punctuated by songs and dances performed by men and women dressed in folkloric gears, thus adding to the North Korean style of the exercise.
All in all it was a clever mixture of Islam, nationalism, science, political braggadocio, and diplomatic flexibility.
The announcement that Iran now masters the full nuclear fuel cycle and that it has enriched uranium to a minimum acceptable level in laboratory conditions, may be no big deal to better-informed citizens. In fact, Iran had the scientific and technological capacity to do so in 1977. It lost that capacity when the Ayatollah Khomeini, who seized power in 1979, shut the nuclear program as “satanic”, had some scientists executed, and forced others into exile.
Spoil sports may even claim that the knowledge needed to do what Iran claims to have done is available on the Internet, and that, provided the money is there, even private citizens could process uranium to such low levels of enrichment.
But the spoilsports would be wrong.
The issue here is not uranium enrichment but the finding of a way for the Islamic republic to walk out of a high-risk confrontation with the United Nations without losing face.
On that score, Ahmadinejad should get high marks. But he may owe all that to the Tehrani folk tale we mentioned above. That tale is woven around its hero Ali Golabi (Pear-shaped Ali) who is a small chap with big ambitions.
The bigger chaps in the neighborhood dismiss him as a midget, bully him whenever they can, and never offer him a seat at the table in the teahouse that is their haunt. So what does Ali Golabi do? He goes around waving a big knife, making a big noise, breaking a window here and there, and, occasionally, even strangling a street cat to show his strength. His agitations annoy the big chaps who want to sip their tea, puff their hookahs and play a game of backgammon in peace.
Nevertheless, Ali knows where and when to stop. As soon as the big chaps come out of the teahouse to confront him, he declares that he has already done whatever he had wanted to do and is now ready not to do it again. This helps ease the tension and gets Ali off the hook — until the next showdown.
So, if our analysis is right, the next step for the Islamic republic would be to announce that, having done what it wanted to do, it has now decided to stop doing it for a while as a gesture of goodwill.
Tehran has less than two weeks to do that before the April 28 deadline set by the United Nations Security Council.
I may be wrong but I think that the Ahmadinejad announcement provides the first opportunity to stop the crisis from spiraling out of control. The Iranian climb-down, if it has not already happened by the time this column is published, is sure to come soon.
The reason is that Ahmadinejad has achieved his tactical goals and has no reason to provoke a confrontation at this point.
His first goal was to discredit his two predecessors, Hashemi Rafsanjani and Muhammad Khatami, by portraying them as weaklings who had given in to pressure and agreed to stop uranium enrichment in the first place.
Ahamdinejad has succeeded in developing a macho image, built around the myth of his “austerity and purity”. His claim is that Rafsanjani was vulnerable to pressure by foreign powers because of his business interests, while Khatami craved attention from Western leaders and media.
Ahmadinejad, however, is proud of being poor, and demands attention from no one but the “Hidden Imam.”
His second goal was to appear to be acting from a position of strength, and, once again, he has succeeded.
The Mash’had announcement came as the denouement of a series of dramatic events. These started in February with the biggest ever show of military power that Tehran has seen. Then followed the military maneuvers conducted in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
Next came the testing of what was claimed to be “the world’s fastest underground anti-submarine missile”. In between something called “the flying boat” was thrown in and presented as “a miracle in military technology.”
Ahmadinejad also highlighted his radical credentials by promising to “wipe Israel off the map.” It would be hard for anyone to accuse him either of weakness or a lack of revolutionary zeal.
Having developed its image as a major military power that cannot be bullied by anyone, the Islamic republic is now in a position to show “magnanimity” in the service of peace and understanding.
This would not be the first time that Pear-shaped Ali has helped get the Islamic republic off the hook. In August 1988 the Islamic Republic launched its biggest-ever military operation in the eight-year-long war against Iraq as a prelude to announcing that it has accepted a UN-brokered cease-fire that it had rejected for years. Thus what was a humiliating retreat was presented as a great triumph for “Islam and the Revolution.”
If the US and its European Union allies play the roles assigned to them in the Ahamdinejad script, the current crisis is likely to be defused soon.
Tehran will announce a new moratorium on uranium enrichment, probably for period of two years that could later be extended to 10 years. It would also agree to submit the additional protocols of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) to the Islamic Majlis for approval at an unspecified date, and invite the IAEA to resume inspections in Iran. Since enriching uranium is not illegal under the NPT, there is nothing that the US and its allies could do in response to what Pear-shaped Ali says he has already done but won’t do again.
But while all this might provide yet another respite, the crisis generated by Iran’s refusal to accept the new emerging status quo in the Middle East will not be dissipated.

The outside world will never be sure that the Islamic republic is not developing a nuclear bomb. Nor can anyone be sure that the Islamic republic, casting itself in the role of the leader of a new “Islamic superpower” in a global “Clash of Civilizations” will always retain Pear-shaped Ali’s proverbial prudence.

This is a boastful diatribe from Mr. Tahiri. The reality is that beggers can’t be chosers, and Iranians don’t assign script to US and EU. It is the otherway around. Iran must follow the script or perish.

I hope and pray that the author is correct and the current crisis doesn’t result in West shooting this Nijat guy out of power.

However the signs so far are not pointing towards peaceful resolution.](“http://www.arabnews.com/?page=7&section=0&article=80785&d=15&m=4&y=2006”)

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

The reality is that the worst threat Iran can really make is to try to shut down the Straight of Hormuz. This would constitute using oil as a weapon. Of course, Iran does not have enough refining capacity, due to US sanctions, and actually imports 40% of it's refined fuel needs. Most of which comes though, you guessed it, the Straights of Hormuz! If they start laying mines, or shooting tankers, they will have a huge backlash from their own people who have become accustomed to cheap plentiful gas. There are nine oil refineries in Iran, only a couple of which refine for export. If the US wants to play rough, blowing up a refinery a week, starting with the one that produces the most domestic gasoline, would sort of balance the "oil as a weapon" game. (Do you think Israel could find those refineries)? In short, if Iran plays rough, nine big bombs basically make Irans' economy grind to a screaching halt for the next decade or two. To rebuild the economy, Iran would need hard currency and Western expertise. In other words the oil must flow for them to come out of the Middle Ages again. The oil in the ground is the only thing that the Iranians have going for them. It is the only thing that has lifted them out of poverty that 50 years ago had them as one of the worlds poorest nations.

Despite all their bluster, the Iranians are just about a week away from being Hunter/Gatherers. They should not overplay their cards.....

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

Can someone list down what kind of sanctions Iran has been under for the last 5 years or so?

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

The challenge is that this nut case will run away when the problems will come and will sit in asslym in one of the freindly countries in six of seven star comforts with whole family of his, while Iranian people will bear the burnt of his BS........

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

OG and UTD, I am really disappointed in both of you for not seeing through this rhetoric of Iranian President. It is a foregone conclusion that either US or Israel will attack/engage Iran. This guy is actually doing a hell of a job of educating the american people that any attack on Iran will be due to US ties with Israel. I dont know if you have noticed or not, but, there is a growing concern among the republicans/conservatives over United State's unwavering support for Israel. Many of the leaders have started questioning the administration as to why should we get involved with Iran if it does not involve us. We have already taken out Saddam for them and its about time that they solved their own problems.

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

Very good point Kaleem......
Iran has clearly separated America from Israel....
I feel for the American people who would have to reap a hell out of this whole issue and their governments support for Israel.....
Another reality is that Americans cannot forego Israel's support. It is a bone in their throat. If they support or if the not, both ways, demage will be done to Americans...

Remeber, Israel is the next rulling state on Earth after USA ......

A great drama is unfolding in the very near future....

Re: Iranian president: 'Rotten' Israel will be annihilated by 'one storm'

Well since most Americans are Evangelical Christians who beleive a united Israel controlled by the Jewish people is when the Jesus will come back to rebuild his Kingdom...

I doubt that their support for Israel will go away any time soon.

Infact, with such lunatic statements like the Holocaust didnt happen, Israel should be wiped off the map, etc.., only serves to strengthen Israel's arguments and weaken the Arab/Muslim ones.

Israel is not seen as the aggressor but rather a small country surrounded by enemies intent on destroying it.

If USA abandons Israel, it is abandoning its principles...

You have to understand this mentality before you make these kinds of verbose statments.

Infact its the Arabs and militant Islam who are losing support.

Israel right now cannot be defeated militarily by any Arab or Islamic nation.

Israel has constructed a fence which seperates it from the Gaza Strip and soon most of the West Bank except for 3 main settlements.

Once the wall has been completed, no suicide bombers can penetrate Israel.

The Qassam rockets are a problem, but Israel is spending a lot of money to design a weapon system which will neutralize that threat.

So Israel will be no longer vulnerable to Palestinian terrorism.

Now, if the Palestinians were smart.

They would not target Israeli civilians but only the military.

70-75% of the Israeli public would dis-engage from the West Bank in its entirely if they knew that the West Bank would not became a haven for Terrorists from which to launch attacks on Israel.

Look at southern lebanon. Israel withdrew in May 2000 and Hezbollah has not targetted Israeli civilians. But Hamas has continued to target Israeli civilians and then they hide behind women and children and they serve as collateral damage when Israel takes out these terrorists.

What Iran has done is to serve reminder to the American people that they must not abandon the Jewish people once again like they did in the 1930's, when anti-immigrants imposed quotas on Jewish immigration to USA and when during World war II USA failed to bomb the concentration camps where 6 million Jews were brutally murdered.

USA will defend the Jewish people's right to exist and live in Israel where they can practice their religion without fear and bigotry.

Iran serves as a reminder that even after the demise of the 3rd Reich, there are still evil regimes which seeks the destruction of the Jewish people, and USA being the most powerful country on earth, will defend their right to exist

Re: Iranian president: ‘Rotten’ Israel will be annihilated by ‘one storm’

Zionism to Muslims is what terrorism is to Americans…

Yet, when a Muslim talks about Zionism and to remove its threat, its taken as a means to declare war…

While in the pentagon, the media and news outlets, open hostilities are being suggested, how to attack, where to attack, when to attack against an independent nation which has done no acts of aggression in the last 250 years…

The true nutjob is the guy who actually believes that someone’s uttered words are a justification to go to war with them…Without any inherent action having taken place…

But then again, freedom of expression is relative…And deadly for some…

Iranian President and Jews statements regarding Israel (merged)

28 October 2005

With the help of the Almighty.

Orthodox Jews the world over, are saddened by the hysteria which has greeted the recent stated desire of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to see a world free of Zionism. This desire is nothing more than a yearning for a better, more peaceful world. It is a hope that with the elimination of Zionism, Jews and Muslims will live in harmony as they have throughout the ages, in Palestine and throughout the world.

It is a dangerous distortion, to see the President’s words, as indicative of anti-Jewish sentiments. The President was simply re-stating the beliefs and statements of Ayatollah Khomeini, who always emphasized and practiced the respect and protection of Jews and Judaism. The political ideology of Zionism alone was rejected. President Ahmadinejad stressed this distinction by referring only to Zionism, not Judaism or the Jewish people, regardless of whether they reside in Palestine or else were.

We concur!!… Orthodox Jews have always prayed and till today, continually pray for the speedy and peaceful dismantling of the Zionist state. As per the teachings of the Torah, the Jewish law, the Jewish people are required to be loyal, upstanding citizens, in all of the countries where-in they reside. They are expressly forbidden to have their own entity or state in any form or configuration, in this Heavenly decreed exile. Furthermore, the exemplification of one-self, with acts of compassion and goodness, is of the essence of Judaism. To subjugate and oppress a people, to steal their land, homes and orchards etc. is of the cardinal sins, of the basics crimes, forbidden by the Torah.

We have long stood together with the suffering Palestinian people in their struggle for self determination and respect. Based on our religious teachings, we believe it is impossible that any lasting peace can be achieved, for so long as the state of Israel exists. It is towards this goal of true reconciliation that religious Jews strive; via Palestinian statehood, so that we can once again reside in harmony and brotherhood.

May we merit to see the fruition of our prayers. Ultimately we pray for the day when all mankind will recognize the One G-g and serve Him in harmony. May this come upon us in the near future. Amen.

Re: Iranian president: ‘Rotten’ Israel will be annihilated by ‘one storm’

He is talking about Zionists, there is difference, no?

Re: Iranian President and Jews statements regarding Israel (merged)

Zionists are people who dreamed of estalbishing a country in British Mandate of Palestine.

That in it self is not a crime as much as the Muslim Congress trying to create a muslim state in British India

But what happened was when Israel was created

Arabs attacked it and it caused a mass refugee problem

When Israel was created in May 14, 1948, not 1 Arab was dis-placed

It was only after the Arab invasion and the subsequent lies in Jerusalem Radio that forced the Arabs to flee.

All the crimes committed by Jews towards Arabs are either all exaggarated or they weren't sanctioned by the IDF command in the first place.

Why do u insist that all Zionists are evil.

Zionists want a place in this world, where they can live in Peace, practice their religion and be the majority...

Imagine if you were a Jew how would u feel

Re: Iranian President and Jews statements regarding Israel (merged)

^ Lets create a country called Seraikistan, Baluchuistan, Pakhtunistan, I'm sure you wouldn't mind at all.
